So what weapon will they be able to purchase is the next question .... my understanding is that previous permits were for handguns. Handguns won’t be of much use against terrorist attacks like what just occurred.

If only they had taken the time to listen to the prophet Nehemiah. This was during the time of the building of the second Temple in Jerusalem.
