Ousted McCarthy behind House office eviction notices given to Pelosi, Hoyer: report
NY Post ^ | 10/4/2023 | Victor Nava

Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy was behind the decision to kick Reps. Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer out of their Capitol hideaway offices, one of which the ousted speaker intends to move into, according to a report.

Just hours after Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC) was named House speaker pro tempore following the historic vote to strip McCarthy (R-Calif.) of his speakership Tuesday, an email went out to Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Hoyer (D-Md.) notifying them to vacate their unofficial office spaces near the House floor.

So why didn’t he do it before now? Oh wait… he was just ticked that they went back in their agreement to support him and voted him off the island.

Ask yourself why McCarthy waited til he was ousted as Speaker to make Nancy and Steny vacate their offices?

The answer is because McCarthy admitted that he never thought a vacate motion would happen because Nancy Pelosi promised him that if it came up she would back him and vote no. That’s why he continued to let her languish in the Speaker’s office. When she failed to come through on her promise he kicked her out as he went out the door himself.

Get a grip.

There are more reasons than that. That’s just one of them. Where he failed to keep his promise on one thing that was TOTALLY ON HIM ALONE to do.

You’re the one totally out of whack. “You said A, so you MUST MEAN B AND C AND D!!! YOU’RE STUPID!!! [that’s you]

"Ask yourself why McCarthy waited til he was ousted as Speaker to make Nancy and Steny vacate their offices?"

It really would be nice if people read the articles before commenting. The reason he waited to kick her out is right there.

“He’s punishing them for not providing Dem votes to keep his speakership”

Isn’t that the same thing Matt Gaetz and seven others did to McCarthy? Punish him for failing to keep his word?

It would be great if the Republicans in congress were as unified and focused on a common goal as Democrats are. It would also be nice if Republican leadership wasn’t constantly going behind the backs of the rank and file to make deals with the Democrats. For the sake of “unity” should we tolerate and support such leaders? What are the principles and goals of the party and how can we possibly achieve them if leadership capitulates and helps the Democrats with only token resistance?

The Dems win because they are unified. Continuing to support leadership like McCarthy only provides the illusion of unity. Chaos hurts in the short term but long term we will never win so long as leadership is constantly undermining us.

Obviously, this entire situation is far too complex for you to understand. Being superficial and looking at just the vote is not understanding what just happened.

It certainly wouldn’t be by conceding to them. They get what they want despite not controlling the House. Please tell me how they do that?

Gaetz followed through on what he promised, which is more than I can say for McCarthy.

The deal made by McCarthy was for pelosi and company to save his bacon. She and other democrats failed to keep their promise just like McCarthy.

Had the democrats kept the promise McCarthy made with them you’d be applauding McCarthy and the democrats and mocking Gaetz for losing his motion bid.

McCarthy is the one that made deals with the devil promising democrats a ROI. All Gaetz did was take the initiative to lead the country out of the swamp. The democrats simply followed his lead hoping that it would now cause disunity within the ranks.

Well Billy boy, it looks like your wishes may back fire and we may get a real leader in the House that won’t be making deals with the devil. America then wins and Gaetz becomes a hero.

I’ll bet you also love McConnell right?

“Yes, I did say his fellow democrats.”

It is not surprising that the eGOP complains about everything but then does nothing but support the things they complain about. The eGOP is done as a party. They are nothing but democrat enablers.

Let’s see..

8 Repubs standing up to their supposed leader for not keeping his word..

And McCarthy expecting Democrats to save him..

Heck, he only needed a few Dems to save him!
Why Dems, why did you do kevin dirty like that?
You had a deal!

NO you stop it!

McCarthy lied and cheated and is a dirt bag for his under the table dealing with Pelosi, So you blame Matt Gaetz? For what, telling the truth!

I take it that you tolerate leaders lying to the American public.

History will prove Matt Gaetz did the right thing.

Stop it. This entire incident is on the dilettante Gaetz. All the Dems did was stay unified, which is something Gaetz has no idea how to do.

McCarthy thought Pelosi was his safety net. He deserves whatever he got.
