NY Post ^ | 10/4/2023 | Victor Nava

Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy was behind the decision to kick Reps. Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer out of their Capitol hideaway offices, one of which the ousted speaker intends to move into, according to a report.

Just hours after Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC) was named House speaker pro tempore following the historic vote to strip McCarthy (R-Calif.) of his speakership Tuesday, an email went out to Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Hoyer (D-Md.) notifying them to vacate their unofficial office spaces near the House floor.

Oh well, what do you know? It was McCarthy who ordered Pelosi and Hoyer to vacate their offices. I'm sure he will accept the apologies of all the FReepers who bashed McCarthy without knowing the facts of the matter.

>>one of which the ousted speaker intends to move into

Why would the OUSTED speaker need a hideaway office?

He's punishing them for not providing Dem votes to keep his speakership, nothing more, nothing less.

The unofficial rule is that the office is given to the most recent Speaker who is no longer in that position. Hence McCarthy gave it to Pelosi, now McCarthy is taking it since he’s the most recent former Speaker.

Maybe too much attention being paid at the comings and goings at Frank Luntz's place?

Well, yeah, that’s my entire point. The order to move came from McCarthy.

Yeah, he’s retaliating because she broke the under the table deal she made to keep the offices in the first place. Sorry McCarthy, if you make a deal with devil you reap what you sow.

nonfactor, McCarthy never kicked them out when he was Speaker. Only when
he was canned did he grow a Spine.

Stop it. This entire incident is on the dilettante Gaetz. All the Dems did was stay unified, which is something Gaetz has no idea how to do.

Incorrect. The unofficial rule is that the office goes to the most recent former Speaker. Given that McCarthy is the most recent former Speaker, he took the office. Read the article before commenting.

So RINO of you..

McCarthy booted them because they reneged on their promise to save his Speakership.

It’s probably both- the office has historically gone to the previous speaker, which is now McCarthy.
Plus Nanzi didn’t help him out. They couldn’t spare a FEW votes from safe D districts?

Everything about this was politics, which McCarthy could have avoided by KEEPIN HIS WORD.

He was not ousted because he was “brave enough to do ‘the right thing’” [by which he means compromise with democrats]

He was ousted for not keeping his word.

And just WHY are the J6 tapes being withheld???

Isnt the fact that these two Swamp D team members were allowed to have their little hideaway offices thanks to McCarthy?

It seems he’s petty and really usable..

Unofficial rule. LOL. McCarthy could have kicked them out at anytime when
he was Speaker as those office spaces were not primary office Spaces for Pelosi and Hoyer. They were secondary spaces.
