Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) said over the weekend that he will make a decision about whether he is going to launch a third party run for president within the next three months.
Speaking to Shannon Bream on Fox News’ “Fox News Sunday,” Manchin asked: “Why not have options? People aren’t satisfied right now.”
“A lot of people like you as an option. And you’ve said, once you make a decision, a target will be on your back,” Bream said. “So you’re waiting till the right time. But the fact is, the calendar is now going to start working against you. What is the timeline? Do you have any announcements to make this morning?”
“Not this morning. Let me just say this. I’ll do it,” he responded. “I’m more concerned about the country right now. What you’ve seen the theatrics have played out yesterday. And up until yesterday. It’s ridiculous.”
Manchin said that the U.S. needs a leader that can work with the center Left and the center Right and not be beholden to the extremes on either side.
“You have to work together. Kevin McCarthy, I praise Kevin McCarthy for what he did yesterday, he finally realized you can’t reason with unreasonable people, with the extremes,” Manchin said. “I hope that people, these people are represented. I hope their constituents finally say enough is enough. We want people that at least keep our government running and moving in the right direction. We can do that. And I think yes, I can bring it together. That’s all I’ve ever done.”
Manchin said that if former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden do not start coming back toward the center then “we’re going to bring it back.”
When pressed again about what his time was, Manchin responded: “Well, I said before the end of the year, I will. We’re still planning. I mean, if something what you’re saying would happen, there is no primaries, you just go right into the foray.”
As exciting as a Christie/Haley ticket!
He’s apparently not polling well in West Virginia against Jim Justice. But his odds for the presidency seem pretty slim, too.
So he makes everybody put off everything and bite their nails
until he makes the historic announcement. Meanie.
Neither side trust him. He has a snowballs chance in hell.
Yawn
I gave a timeline once.
I doubt very many power couples in politics can match them.
Manchin is nothing more than a stick-your-finger-in-the-wind attention whore. He can go pound sand.
Solid lefty Democrat- pretending (clumsily) to be independent - Manchin was planning to run from the get-go, one highly suspects.
My guess is that his assignment is to perform the full-Perot, providing disaffected GOP voters an alternative to Trump toward a certain electoral college loser, Manchin.
End result? Dems win and that pesky "DEMOCRACY" thingy is conned again.
Solid lefty Dem, Manchin, has been planning the run for a long time, by all outward appearances. How many fools can he fool? You might be surprised.
So 1860 all over
1860 Southern Democrats John Breckenridge from KY (That is Biden)
1860 Northern Democrats Stephen Douglas from IL (That is RFK Jr)
1860 Republicans Abe Lincoln from IL (That is Trump)
1860 Constitutional Unionist party John Bell from TN (That will be Machin)
If he decides to run for President, he’d be invited to a punch party by sr Democrat party members. He knows this, so he’s just trying to get more donations.
Wouldn't that be a fourth-party run if Kennedy already claimed the third-party run??
It’s dog track time for Manchin.
He is just attention seeking, probably already decided.

As a Trump “through hell & high water” supporter, I like the way you think.
Good scenario.👍
If he ran who would he hurt more?
He doesn’t have much to lose, he sees how red West Virginia has become in the last few years and knows he would lose reelection if he ran for the Senate in 2024. So at least this gives him a way to possibly leverage a VP or cabinet spot.
He can’t win reelection against Justice in West Virginia, he won’t do anything as 3rd party.
