The seven richest counties in the USA all surround Washington DC.
The marxist voice in me says - their wealth needs to be re-distributed to the proletariat in the rest of the country.

This is NPR's slant on it which is LEFT LEANING and designed to scare those who have NO common sense.

Yes. At Wal-Mart over by the H-Street. Wait a minute. It’s closed now.

I would be fine with a Federal government desert in and around DC.

Except what they deem as ‘essential services’ do not shut down and that is probably 90% of the government.
They use the same ole scare tactics they have used for decades.
Medicare and Social Security hardest hit — except they are not.
It is all kabuki theatrics.

Margaret, who looks to be about 12 years old, apparently isn't aware of the federal workers getting paid EVERY SINGLE TIME there was a "government shutdown".
History began yesterday for her generation.

Government workers only represent a drain on the economy. We need as few of them as necessary to do what government is supposed to do.
To: MinorityRepublican
Congress needs to pay only those federal workers who work for no pay during a shutdown of the government. Federal workers need to recognize that being laid off is a fact of life for everyone who is not a federal worker and should be for federal workers as well.
To: MinorityRepublican
“Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia combined have about 400,000 federal workers...”
I think I see part of the problem.

Americans wouldn’t care. I see the RAT “press” is already whining about the National Parks being closed. Personally, as an NPS fan, former employee and a big supporter of National Parks, I think they could use a good vacation and shut down period to heal the scars azzholes are making on them. JMO.
