RFK Jr.'s Independent Run Is Why Republicans Lose
RedState ^ | Sept. 29, 2023 | Bonchie

Posted on 09/29/2023 8:31:05 PM PDT by chickenlips

As RedState reported, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is set to launch an independent presidential campaign after first challenging Joe Biden for the Democratic Party nomination.

According to multiple sources, the official announcement will come on October 9th in Pennsylvania.

2024 presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. plans to announce he will run as an independent on October 9 in Pennsylvania, Mediaite has learned.

Kennedy’s campaign machine is now planning “attack ads” against the Democratic National Committee in order to “pave the way” for his announcement in Philadelphia about running as an independent, according to a text reviewed by Mediaite.

This is not good news for Republicans, and there's empirical evidence to back that up. According to the latest polling, RFK Jr. enjoys a very high approval rating among Republicans while he's extremely disliked by Democrats.

If this does happen (and it's a big if!) it could easily backfire on the GOP nominee. Kennedy is significantly more popular among Republican voters than among Democrats. QPac poll found him +30 among GOP, -43 among Dems. Siena had him +36 among Trump voters, -35 among Biden. https://t.co/yc3RoxaoKr pic.twitter.com/Xf3IXf6Qs4

— Jacob Rubashkin (@JacobRubashkin) September 29, 2023 I'm not the only one worried about that dynamic either. Several of Donald Trump's biggest boosters are sounding the alarm as well.

SNIP>>>>>>>

— Jack Poso 🇺🇸 (@JackPosobiec) September 29, 2023 None of this is happening in a vacuum. In fact, the two people I just quoted above were some of RFK Jr.'s biggest promoters, and they are hardly alone on the right. Many conservatives, specifically those skeptical of the COVID-19 vaccines, latched onto RFK Jr. very early in the cycle as some kind of anti-establishment figure. In fact, the only reason he has much of a platform today is because of right-wing media.

RFK Jr will take Trump apart over the “three vaccines all are very, very good,” “beautiful vaccines”, ”one of the greatest achievements of mankind”.

Please note that Redstate is a GOP establishment mouthpiece.
They’re panicking over Junior because he takes votes away from establishment Republicans. Look, Trump supporters aren’t going to vote for someone else. Trump has his base locked in. That’s why this hack Bonchie is writing this.

It doesn’t take much of a guess to know where Trump’s votes go if the NeverTrumpers are able to take him out, and it WILL NOT be to the Republican or Democrat nominee.

Kind of ridiculous any Republican would support this kind of far-left agenda:

This is good news for Republicans and there's empirical evidence to back it up. Ross Perot, as an independent, won 19% percent of the vote in 1992 and easily prevented the incumbent, George Bush, from re-election.

It’s an interesting theory. The polling says otherwise. Common sense says otherwise. But it is a way for the GOPe to cling to some hope.

Well sure - Clinton got to appoint two liberal SCOTUS nominees and we got things like Obergefell. Even if Bush had done his prior pattern of appointing 1 liberal and 1 conservative (ala Souter/Thomas) that would not have occurred. If that’s what you call “good news”...

Kennedy like Trump realized that the Democrat party is not deomocratic in any way.

Trump was able to run as a Republican

Kennedy cannot do that and remain viable. He had to run as Independent.

We will see how that works, I hope the shadowbanning from all media like it seems he is currently stops.

If that’s what you call “good news”...

You're missing the point. Ross Perot, as a conservative, peeled off a lot more Bush votes than Clinton votes, which swung several states in the electoral college. Likewise, RFK will cannibalize Biden votes in favor of Trump.

Trump has his base locked in.

Trump’s base (those who will vote only Trump and nobody else) is about 20% of the electorate.

Well...conspiracy right-wing media, yes. This far-left socialist even has his fans here as of late. Though nothing he has said makes any more sense than anything he ever has. Cheered on for saying absurd things like no viruses infect the kidneys. Utter nonsense - but won him high praise from some.

Correct. Why does it matter if Trump voters like him; why wouldn’t Trump voters vote for Trump? Trump’s problem isn’t that his supporters are too luke-warm; it’s that he inspires absolute hatred among so many people that they also come out in droves. How many Democrats and swing-voters hate Biden, but not so much they’d vote for Trump? These are your Kennedy voters.

Okay, I did indeed. Thank you for the correction.

Though there are even some here saying Trump supporters would flock to the socialist if Trump were to not be the nominee. I guess that makes sense - there was even a thread here back in 2016 praising Bernie Sanders with people saying if Trump was not the Republican nominee and Sanders was the Dem nominee, they would vote for Sanders.

As much possible harm it would cause Trump (he’s gonna be the nominee), it will do just as much harm or more to the Dim nominee; be it Bidung or anyone else.
