I’m going to get flamed but what else is new, right? Here goes:

Ukraine started this whole thing. For years and years and years, it had been shelling Russian cities and towns on the border, killing and maiming thousands of Christian Russian men, women, and children in the process.

The New York Times and the CIA ignored it all. Then, when Moscow finally decided it needed to defend these outlying areas, after having delayed and exercised a degree of civilized restraint, the New York Times and the CIA and the NSA awoke from their slumber and accused “Big Bad Vlad” of invading a sovereign nation. “Oh”, they cried, “What a warmonger!”

If we had a president and administration with half the commitment Mr. Putin has in defending the Russian people and nation from invasion, we would have a southern border second to none, and the cartels and child sex traffickers and birthright babies would be an anachronism and a parenthetical in American history.

Putin once stated Russia is a Christian nation and will never succumb to Islamification. And boy, did that piss off a lot of people in Washington, DC.

And that has proven to be one very, very, expensive hissy fit.

No, oh dense one, NATO exists, supposedly to counter the SOVIET threat to Europe. I don’t believe the USSR exists today. Perhaps you should check.

Our electrical grid includes a number of custom designed LPTs, Large Power Transformers:

“Key industry sources have identified the limited availability of spare LPTs as a potential issue for critical infrastructure resilience in the United States”

These are very expensive and have a long lead time. And naturally, thanks to bipartisan support for globalism and American de-industialization, we no longer build them. We probably no longer know how to build them, having surrendered the institutional memory along with the plants capable of making them.

Anyway a truly serious and angry opponent would knock these units out and let us wallow in the resulting chaos. It would take a very long time to recover. No nukes needed.

https://www.energy.gov/ceser/articles/large-power-transformers-and-us-electric-grid-report-update-april-2014

A smart country would encourage decentralized power generation in order to reduce this system risk.

Ukraine started this whole thing...

Nonsense.

Russia's Igor Strelkov: I Am Responsible for War in Eastern Ukraine

Russian national Igor Strelkov, a former commander of pro-Moscow separatists in eastern Ukraine, has claimed personal responsibility for unleashing the conflict in which 4,300 people have been killed since April.

"I was the one who pulled the trigger of this war," Strelkov said in an interview published Thursday with Russia's Zavtra newspaper, which espouses imperialist views.

"If our unit hadn't crossed the border, everything would have fizzled out — like in [the Ukrainian city of] Kharkiv, like in Odessa," Strelkov, who uses that nom-de-guerre meaning "Shooter" to replace his last name Girkin, was quoted as saying.

"There would have been several dozen killed, burned, detained. And that would have been the end of it. But the flywheel of the war, which is continuing to this day, was spun by our unit. We mixed up all the cards on the table," he said.

According to what I read, we don’t even know how to build an ice breaker now. Affirmative Action has worked its poison. it took a while but it did what the designers knew it would. America went from setting the standard to zero. But, what the hell, we can buy it from Red China. Perhaps the Red Chinese will give a discount for bulk sales. Affirmative Action had mucho help and support from the Environmental Protection Agency. Enjoy the ride.

The Russian empire was brought down in 1991, but Russia is still there and still invading, and NATO still exists to protect itself from Russia.

In fact, this latest Russian invasion has grown NATO by two terrified countries (one of those will be accepted soon).

No, it won’t.
If World War III gets fougjt with nuclear weapons, there won’t be anybody left to fight in World War
IV. The entire planet will be a nuclear radiated wasteland. Nobody will be alive to fight.

“The notion of “assisting” Ukraine with US servicepersons and material escalates tensions and depletes readiness, simultaneously.”

For one thing, we’re not supporting Ukraine with “boots on the ground”.

As far as providing material, the munitions are from older lot numbers that would have otherwise been removed from stocks through decommissioning (destruction), sold to allies, used in training, or refurbished. Even with what we have sent to Ukraine to date, we still have more than enough for wartime contingencies, and training

When it comes to the heavy weapons such as Abrams, Bradleys, Strykers, MRAPs, and M113s all of them are older models, and have been put in storage years ago.

The U.S. Army currently has over 2,500 Abrams in service, with a further 3,700 in storage. A mere 31 tanks going to Ukraine isn’t going to affect readiness.

With the Bradleys, the Army has over 1,400 in active use with a further 4,800 in storage. 100 or so isn’t going to affect our readiness.

Strykers... Almost 4,200, 190 isn’t going to hurt readiness especially when it’s 190 older vehicles that do not have the current double V hull configuration and the vehicles came from a recently reconfigured IBCT that went from Strykers to being a light infantry (airborne) brigade.

MRAP, 12,000 produced and only a few are used in active units. Those used by active units are newer M-ATV. So again not going to affect readiness.

Humvees are being replaced by JLTV with thousands in storage. No affect.

Etc, etc, etc.

I agree. My son enlisted after 9-11 and served in the 101st Airborne in Iraq. I will say only this- he would not enlist today. He stays in touch with his combat buddies- none would enlist now.

I doubt very seriously there are a bunch of Trannies.

You don't know that, now do you?

How did the 101st work out when they went to the third-world countries of Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan? All major boondoggles and in two of the three the US got our wings clipped.

On the other hand, maybe they did capture the massive kingdoms of Granada & Panama. Yep. Did real good.

Putin didn’t have a problem with the USA until Obama. Remember when Dubya said he looked into Putin’s eyes and he saw his soul?

So truth will out as the Bard said.   President Obama, with crooked Joe Biden, joined with the the Globalists and Neocons to press for the overthrow of President Putin by encroaching on Russia through NATO, which started this proxy war only to fill their coffers of corruption.

And you like Hillary, asks "why does it even matter?"   Oh, you didn't include "at this point" so it wasn't a direct quote.   But remember you are siding with Joe Biden which is a dead give away you are on the wrong side.

Yes, because they were controlled by the Communist Jewish Bolsheviks. Now that they're controlled by Orthodox Christian Russians, that isn't the case.

The idea that the Soviet Union was purely a creation of the Jews is a straight Nazi lie. This neo-Nazi weasel, who is for some reason tolerated on this website (even if many of his pro-Nazi posts are deleted), is apparently hoping that FReepers don't know that the Soviets persecuted the Jews. Jews led opposition to the regime and hundreds of thousands of Jews fled the Soviet Union.

Also he hopes that you'll believe that Russia is now somehow run by Christians when Russia has one of the lowest church attendance rates in the world (5.4%) and the highest abortion rate.

Etc, etc, etc.

You could have stopped at that because the fact is we have no business messing with two siblings in a family squabble.   Get DNA samples from all of the so called ethnic Ukrainians and the ethnic Russians and no expert could tell then apart with one thousand years of intermixing, especially in the last one hundred years.

We have no dog in this hunt.   We owe all of this folderol to corruptions in Washington and Kiev.

Oh, stop it.

What a whiney screed.

I told the truth. Remember that, the truth?

Why insult me with that crap about Hillary and Biden”?

I can’t wait to see Trump back in office, who I campaigned for. I want the war to end, is that the wrong side?
