Depends upon how you interpret the law. The progressive judges believe you have to let them in and let them file their claim that they’re being presecuted in their country of origin. Trump claimed that since they were now in Mexico, they couldn’t be persecuted in their home country.
Many judges presume, with minimal proof, that they deserve their appearance in front of a judge to make their claim. They would rather let hundreds with no viable claim in rather than denying one with a legitimate claim.
The other reason is there are huge amounts of money involved. The cartels are charging thousands of dollars for each illegal they transport across Mexico and infiltrate into the US.

I am in same boat, I am 110% against my taxes going to Ukraine. But I am a realist. I know there are not anywhere enough politicians who think like me. So I am ok by cutting the Ukraine funds by 98.8%.

It is better to have this fight now. Not having it doesn’t change anything. I will not be duped by promises in the future. We have seen how that has worked over and over again. Nothing changes.
