MARTINEZ, Calif. - Health officials in several Bay Area counties have issued new mask mandates as COVID-19 cases continued to rise and in preparation for the upcoming respiratory virus season.
This week, Contra Costa, Sonoma, and San Mateo counties all issued mask orders for health care personnel in hospitals and other patient care facilities. All three orders were set to go into effect on Nov. 1 and last through April 30. On Tuesday, director of Contra Costa Health Services, Anna Roth, told the county Board of Supervisors that since July, hospitalizations numbers due to COVID-19 have increased from 8.1 per day to 12.1 in the county.
In response to the uptick, Roth said, "We are issuing the health order today around masking for high-risk facilities, health care facilities specifically."

They can predict these things two and a half months into the future.
The “Maskateers” are back (guess they really never left)!!
“Rising cases”. Rising from what? A baseline of 0? When cases are essentially flat-lined, even a few ‘cases’ constitute a “dramatic rise in cases”. Such a pathetic joke at this point.
But it’s ok to defecate on the sidewalk - not a public health issue
I nominate “uptick” as the most overused, abused and miss applied word in all of the news media for the last three years.
They all use it, like its was a directive or something.
So sick of seeing/hearing that word.
I’m in Gilroy today and seeing all kinds of people walking in the open air, no one around them, with masks on.
Same thing with drivers. Mask on. No one else in car.
Store clerks are masking up too...
It’s not the cases that matter as much as how seriously ill it causes. I haven’t read all things Covid-19, but I’ve read that the virus has been degraded to a bad cold for most.
Their profession has become a curious blend of medical science and political "science".
Some “experts” have been agitating for maskerbating for six months of EVERY year coinciding with “cold and flu season”.
They are maskerbators....just a feel good exercise.

Where’s the pool for time before the counties require everybody to wear them all the time?
