Former President Donald Trump plans to negotiate with Democrats on the issue of abortion if reelected in 2024, saying in a Meet the Press interview released on Sunday, “I think they are all going to like me. I think both sides are going to like me.”
During a wide-ranging interview with NBC News moderator Kristen Welker, Trump repeatedly reiterated his intent to mediate on the issue of abortion if reelected and framed Democrats as extreme for supporting abortion through all nine months of pregnancy. He also declined to say if he believes unborn babies have a constitutional right to life and hit out at 2024 Republican presidential candidate Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for signing a six-week abortion limit, calling the move a “terrible thing”:
Trump says that it’s a “terrible thing” to sign a heartbeat abortion bill such as the ones passed in FL, IA, OH, GA etc.
Where are the alleged pro-life groups/leaders on this?

When asked repeatedly if he would sign a 15-week federal abortion restriction if reelected, Trump replied, “I’m going to come together with all groups, and we’re going to have something that’s acceptable.”

Well, why not? The Democrats have been so reasonable in the past - especially to him personally - why not believe he can work with them?
I get it. Trump is mad cause Florida and DeSantis has the better abortion policy.
But isn’t it strange that Trump has flip flopped on the abortion issue.
Strange.
Yes so true--why who could forget how receptive Natzy Pelosi was to his state of the union speech.
3 of the states with 6-week bans are Florida, Georgia, and Iowa, 3 states where Trump hates their Governors, I wonder if that’s a coincidence or on purpose.
“But isn’t it strange that Trump has flip flopped on the abortion issue.”
No flip flop.
Javanka is right. 40 out of 50 states need to make abortion legal. Then we can move on.

In the summer of 1981. Goldwater delivered a speech in Congress making clear that like O’Connor, he was not “pro-abortion” but rather, understood that governing was not as simple as broad declarative positions on any one matter alone.
“The uncompromising position of these groups is a divisive element that could tear apart the very spirit of our representative system, if they gain sufficient strength,” the Arizona man said, adding: “As it is, they are diverting us away from the vital issues that our Government needs to address.
Far too much of the time of members of Congress and officials in the Executive Branch is used up dealing with special-interest groups on issues like abortion, school busing, ERA, prayer in the schools and pornography. While these are important moral issues, they are secondary right now to our national security and economic survival.”
Trump’s true value to America is as a wrecking ball to a government that desperately needs to face the wrecking ball.
His value is not as a negotiator within that government, to allow it what it needs to preserve itself.
He is hurting himself in the same manner he did in 2017, when he tried to reason and compromise with the crouching beast that only wishes to devour him…and us.
Bingo.
Will he ever reach across the aisle and work with Republicans?
He never flip flopped. Go back to 2000, he has always been pro-abortion.
Which POTUS was as successful as Trump? Look at what Trump accomplished:
Who the heck can accomplish the above in four years while being impeached twice and investigated by Obama's Weaponized Agencies?
Remember when he was running the first tine and ge said pro-lifers want to put the mothers in jail.
Yep.
That way we'll never have the moral authority to condemn the USSR, the Third Reich, or the Peoples' Republic of China.
Compromise with a party that supports abortion even after partial birth? Trump is smoking strange weed if he thinks that he’s going to get any votes by trying to compromise with the Democrats on this issue.
What are you talking about it’s already legal.
Negotiate what? Its not a federal issue, that’s how it got overturned. What the Eff is he thinking?
