Gov. Ron DeSantis says he’d take a hard line against North Korea if necessary, including a preemptive military strike in the event evidence said they were gunning for the U.S. first.
On Tuesday’s CBS Evening News, the Florida Governor said he would do so if “you knew that there was definitely someone was about to launch a missile at you.”
“Of course, you take action to prevent and protect your people, but that would require a certain amount of evidentiary threshold,” DeSantis told Norah O’Donnell. “I don’t think you just go willy nilly.”
DeSantis also said he would keep North Korea and its leader, Kim Jong Un, isolated diplomatically if he were President.
“Well, we have to obviously keep Kim Jong Un in a box. This is a very irrational individual, he’s prone perhaps to do irrational things. And so we will work to put him in a box and to keep the pressure on Kim Jong Un.”
The discussion of keeping Kim Jong Un “in a box” comes as the North Korean leader heads to Moscow for a meeting with Russia’s Vladimir Putin. That meeting could lead to military cooperation, with Putin potentially trading economic aid and technology for munitions to be used in the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which DeSantis has downplayed as a “territorial dispute.”
No it wasn’t. It kept Kim behaving himself.
DeSantis is throwing more crap at the wall.
Poll: Trump Holds 60% Support in GOP Primary Field
Former President Donald Trump’s lead over his nearest competitor in the Republican primary field, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), has expanded four percent since August and now sits at nearly fifty points, according to a national TIPP insights poll.
The poll, published on Monday, shows that Trump has hit the 60 percent threshold for the first time in a TIPP Insights survey in 2023. His support has grown three points from August among registered Republicans and right-leaning independents, while DeSantis has fallen off one point since then and lands at eleven percent in the latest poll.
Agree, peace though strenth
willy nilly?
“Good clear statement.”
Clear statement, but good?
You don’t loudly proclaim to a crazed, paranoid communist leader that you can’t wait to hit him.
DeSantis is as unhinged as Km Jong Un. Absolutely insane.
If Trump hadn’t gotten the election stolen from him in a coup, he probably would have gotten the North and South Korea to reunify by now. Trump was just that good at foreign policy.
Trump did something different, so I give him credit for trying something different. It’s unfortunate that it didn’t get the result we would have liked.
Nobody is going to authorize a strike against North Korea. Anybody who does that should expect a response from China.
A better plan would be to work to cut off North Korea’s income from it’s worldwide criminal activities. Make it more dependent on China’s goodwill. Even China would eventually tire of that pimple of a country.
Trump basically told him, “I can be your best friend, or your worst enemy.”
And if I had won the lottery the last time I bought tickets...
I’d prefer Trump’s “carrot” approach to RDS “threat of stick”. Bullies never expound to threats because that would cause them to lose face. Instead they act in their own self interest.

The international coalition of commies and neo-soviets are in full (explicit) display. Putin on his knees in-front of Kim, literally begging him for ammunition and old rusty Soviet weapons... Putin depleted Russia’s army, and now he has to beg. I like that. Humiliation is a first step to make Putin understand how badly he has botched his personal war on our Ukrainian allies.
Well, there you go, DeSanctimonious’s Inner Globalist / NeoCon inner-self on Full Display!
“Who cares? He’s the governor of Florida and that’s all he’s going to be.”
Good point. His opinion of what he would do is as irrelevant as the local barber.
Yeah. Incredibly weak response.
“A better plan would be to work to cut off North Korea’s income from it’s worldwide criminal activities.”
Ever wonder if members of the western intelligence agencies and elites aren’t profiting from NK’s activities, therefore making it darned unlikely that anything will be done to stop them? Been going on too long to pretend anyone is really trying.
Unclear how preemptive if "they" were gunning first.
When it was explained to Kim about Trump calling him “little rocket man,” Kim thought a minute and said, “Rocket man, ok. ‘Little’, no.” Then he suspended all missile tests for the duration of the Trump administration. Yes, Trump was that good.
