Prospects of a trial next month in Georgia for former President Donald Trump and 18 co-defendants appear to be fading.
Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis' aim to keep all of the co-defendants together for a singlular trial starting Oct. 23 is being challenged with legal maneuvers that could foil the quick start, The Hill reported.
Five defendants have tried to move their charges to federal court, two have demanded a speedy trial, and a majority have focused on severing their charges from fellow co-defendants, the outlet noted.
“It just seems a bit unrealistic to think that we can handle all 19 in 40 something days,” Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee conceded last week, The Hill reported.

IMO DJT should do everything he can to delay all the trials until after 11/24. Don’t know if that’s possible but it would be good.
AND the right to a “speedy trial” is NOT for the sake of the government’s prosecution.
But it is all BS anyway. EVERYONE knows it is a political persecution. EVERYONE!!! ESPECIALLY the tyrants running the show.
BS.

Georgia’s RICO law appears to have been misapplied in this instance, and there is grounds for summary dismissal on this basis alone.
is trump still vulnerable to being arrested for campaigning within the state borders (perhaps that being the actual goal)?

Exactly. If the defendant wants to waive their right to a speedy trial, then they can usually get all the time they want to prepare for trial (within reason).
Well, with covid back, I suppose these should all be done via zoom, no more in person meetings. I'm sure we can get it done in 2-3 years.
