BALDWIN COUNTY, Ga. (WGXA) - An arrest has been made in a Friday night shooting in Milledgeville.
According to a media release, the shooting happened on Friday, September 1st, 2023, at around 9:15 p.m. Officers with the Milledgeville Police Department responded to multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired in the vicinity of Wray Homes.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered several witnesses in the 400 block of Earnest Byner Street. These witnesses informed law enforcement that they had been sitting outdoors when an armed man approached them and began shooting. In self-defense, one of the victims, who possessed a lawful firearm, returned fire. However, during this exchange, the victim, who was targeted by several other individuals who continued to shoot, was shot.
Milledgeville PD's detectives promptly arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses. As a result of their work, detectives were able to identify one of the shooters as 18-year-old Travion Antwan Butts. Butts has since been taken into custody and is facing multiple charges, including six counts of Aggravated Assault and one count of Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime.
This case remains an active and ongoing investigation, with the possibility of additional charges being filed as more information comes to light.

Georgia doesn’t have a charge for Attempted Murder.
The correct charge is, Aggravated Assault. Carries some very lengthy sentencing if/when convicted.
Aggravated Assault....16-5-21. Aggravated assault
(a) A person commits the offense of aggravated assault when he or she assaults:
(1) With intent to murder, to rape, or to rob;
(2) With a deadly weapon or with any object, device, or instrument which, when used offensively against a person
Knowing Baldwin County...if convicted Butts is gone for a long time. And if his sentences, for the different victims, is consecutive, he’s gone for good. If he gets a concurrent sentence then he serves the same amount of time for each on, at the same time.
There was an episode on Scared Straight.
Kid was acting up in the prison. Running his mouth to someone he clearly shouldn’t have thinking that he was protected.
When they kid was being let out and walking away me encountered the former inmate he was running his mouth to. He wasn’t much of a badass at that point.
