The DOJ didn't suddenly overnight become law-abiding and non-biased with regards to Hunter Biden.
This is apparently a well thought-out strategy and was put together in coordination with the WH and Joe Biden's legal team.

Yup. Bust him on a gun/drug charge. Completely ignore the ongoing bribery, shell corps, and tax evasion.

Does the judge who nixed the last case have any say in this? I want her looking at this with a fine toothed comb.

The sweetheart deal got pulled out into the sunlight.
So their next step is a tap on the wrist and a wink.

They’re going to bring out the Clinton era book on how to “investigate” someone so that everyone involved: investigators, investigated and witnessed will be prohibited from talking to Congress about it. Then the case will be dropped in the end.

If Weiss stops at a new gun charge -- look, a bright shiny object -- plus the tax misdemeanors already listed in the previous compact, that would strike me as yet another face-saving political exercise. Indeed, it could be interpreted as Weiss coming "a little bit harder at Hunter Biden (while still taking care to insulate 'the Big Guy)," while still serving the Biden DOJ's overriding "inclination to protect the Bidens to the greatest extent possible." In short, I recommend tapping the breaks on any premature celebrations over newfound "accountability," carefully scrutinizing the fine print of whatever might emerge in a forthcoming indictment, then watching to see whether or not the Special Counsel probe then effectively ends. He got caught going easy, so instead of a punishment of 10 out of 10, it will be a 2 out of 10. But this is to protect an 8 out of 10 that would include the Big Guy.

Any real prosecution would be demanding information from Hunter about Joe Biden otherwise this is all a farce.

They are just pushing things out another month. They’ve had plenty of information and time to ready indictments already, but now they want more time. I’m sure that even the judge will see through this obvious delaying tactic, but won’t care or do anything about it. This is just another example of the Banana Republic in operation.

What about his father the big guy?
Aren't the allegations against him more serious, than the one against his son- considering that he was VP when some "shenanigans" took place, and now he's POTUS? 🤔
