Ron DeSantis’ support ‘collapses’ after GOP debate, poll shows
NYpost ^ | Sept 2, 2023 | Jon Levine

In a survey of 600 Republican primary voters, 59% said Trump would be their first choice, followed by 13% for DeSantis.

That’s down from the 24% the Florida governor previously logged, when he was seen as closing in on Trump.

“DeSantis collapsed,” said Democratic pollster Mark Bocian, who conducted the survey with GOP pollster Tony Fabrizio. “The one candidate who back in April really seemed to be a potential contender, seemed to have a narrative to tell, has totally collapsed, and those votes went to Trump.”

More than 60% of primary voters said each indictment faced by Trump was “politically motivated and without merit” while 48% of those surveyed said they would be more likely to support Trump because of his legal troubles.

Turning to a general election, the poll surveyed 1,500 registered voters and found Trump and President Biden running in a virtual dead heat — with Trump netting 40% of the vote to Biden’s 39%.

Article says fabrizio is a Trump pollster, but the only thing I have seen is fabrizion tried to do polling for Trump, and was rejected by the Trump campaign for the work they tried to do.

Have to wonder what he sees when looks in the mirror.

RDS...Am I that much of a complete stooge to fall for their snake oil

RDS...I’m the man, I really thought I had a chance, EVERYTHING that has happened in Florida ONLY happened because of me. It had nothing at all to do with the Conservative legislature putting bills on my desk and Republicans all over the state helping to implement all of these policies that came from me and ONLY me. The people just don’t know what they’re going to be missing. And Pres Trump is a big meanie.

The more I see of this, if the rumors about the wife have some merit, the more I think she is going to be like Cam Brady’s wife in the movie, The Campaign.

I really hate seeing this, I thought DeSantis would be a stronger candidate, even though I still consider myself a Trump supporter, but I do want a choice and a “Plan B” if for whatever reason Trump can’t go.

I think the folks advising DeSantis didn’t have his best interests in mind.

DeSantis could never have guessed how hard Democrats were going to campaign for Trump. They are moving heaven and earth to make sure Trump is on the ballot in 2024.

I was a DeSantis supporter even before he decided to run. He’s done good things as governor, but as a presidential candidate he’s been a big disappointment. He’s just too much of a stiff to catch fire with the voters. I don’t remember him being so much that way before he decided to run. Don’t know if he’s being overly coached/programmed or what, but he’s going to have to snap out of it to have a chance at the nomination if for some reason Trump is removed from the race. He’ll have no chance in the general election unless his personality improves.

Democrats are not the cause of Ronnie’s poor campaign.
Ronnie and his campaign are the cause.

Your assessment is spot on.

DeSantis seems to be a great governor. Would he be a good president? Yes.

But it doesn’t matter if he can’t win the primary, much less the general.

But his campaign is sorely lacking.

“The one candidate who… seemed to be a contender… has totally collapsed, and those votes went to Trump.”

No, those votes were always Trumps. DeSantis evidently never understood that his base, the people who love him as governor, were almost universally Trump supporters. Attacking Trump he drove away his own base.

His better plan would have been to support Trump openly in his fight with corrupt prosecutors, support him for 2024, and wait his turn in 2028. If Trump were forced out of the race, he would have been the logical replacement and would have had Trump’s full support. And the support of the GOP rank and file. As it is, he has just embarrassed himself.

Because people are voting for a prez who will lock you down, write blank checks to big pharma, bumpstock ban, Syrian rapefugees and as a big middle finger mail in ballots.
In an interview last week he talked about how good he and his admin did during covid.
He will do this again. He must be stopped.. he gave them perpetual tyranny with his bumpstock ban.
Many, many people died alone in homes and hospitals without the humanity of a funeral.

What kind of animal would want more of this.

This is completely deranged and illogical thinking...

Why would having the dems do all these indictments in both state and federal courts, having all these extreme lawsuits on obscure aspects of law, and based on premises that are not accepted as common and proper, and untold millions spent on legal fees, be viewed as

‘moving heaven and earth to make sure Trump is on the ballot in 2024’ ?

I’ll vote for Trump, even if I have to write him in, over the uniparty supported desanctimonious.

Because I, and many others, are tired of the deep swamp GOPe rinos claiming they want to represent ‘republicans’, then go and vote for the biden debt ceiling deal.

We are tired of how the uniparty claims they will impeach biden, but are really only putting out propaganda, to preserve their power sharing scheme, and have no intentions of changing things and losing their control.

ABSOLUTELY - at this point even Vivek will send DeSantis to the cleaners if Trump is out. For Trump voters, Vivek’s somewhat questionable past is chump change compared to the fact that Vivek is seen STANDING WITH TRUMP, whereas DeSantis is seen as “Wow, those Listless Vessels won’t have a choice but to support me”. Of course if Trump is out (for whatever reason), a strong MAGA candidate could end up with the nomination, but none have announced so far, and I would be hard-pressed to even name one (possibly someone in the House, maybe?).

Is Ron really a great governor or is he just a good paper signer and speech reader for all the help he has from Republicans legislators and city/town officials making him look good?

I truly have yet to hear of any thing at all Ron did to help people on his own. Lots of Trump stories way before like decades ago of Trump actually helping people. Ron, crickets.
