So, he can use campaign funds for his legal defense? That doesn’t seem right.
The thing about that is that you don’t need to have committed a crime to be indicted or to exercise your Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination. He and his attorneys know that better than most.
He does not, and will not, have enough money

Biden is not campaigning because he knows that he’s not going to be the candidate. He’s going to pull out at the last minute.
It may break laws or limit his rights to do otherwise. In the New York case, if he had paid Cohen with personal funds, he would be charged under campaign donation violations. It is a game to these people.

Some guy above got it right. He has lots of legal fees. 10s of millions. Maybe even 100 million.
And the NY AG says he claimed net worth of 5 Billion when it was actually 2.5 Billion.
He could pay 10X the legal fees and not even cut himself in half.
The cost of campaigning is always talked about as advertising and travel. That’s campaign staff saying that, and not mentioning their own ridiculous salaries. Campaign people are card carrying members of the Swamp. Not hiring them is a good thing.

There is no traditional campaign structure. Barring an act of God, he will be the candidate. DC seems to want figureheads, they just need him alive, not alive and having any capacity for thinking.
