California sues Chino school district, aiming to end policy notifying parents of student gender changes

California Atty. Gen. Rob Bonta filed a lawsuit Monday against the Chino school district, ordering an end to a policy that requires notifying parents if their children change their gender identity, alleging it is discriminatory and violates civil rights and privacy laws.

The “parental notification” policy, which has been proposed by a handful of conservative-leaning districts in California, puts transgender and gender nonconforming students in “danger of imminent, irreparable harm” by potentially forcibly “outing” them at home before they’re ready, according to the lawsuit.

“They are in real fear that the district’s policy will force them to make a choice: either ‘walk back’ their constitutionally and statutorily protected rights to gender identity and gender expression, or face the risk of emotional, physical and psychological harm from non-affirming or unaccepting parents or guardians,” states the lawsuit, which asks the San Bernardino County Superior Court to immediately ban the practice.

The state’s suit against Chino Valley Unified escalates culture war debates playing out on some school boards in red pockets of deep blue California and puts districts that have proposed similar policies, including Murrieta Valley Unified and Orange Unified, on alert.

“Our message to Chino Valley Unified and all school districts in California is loud and clear: We will never stop fighting for the civil rights of LGBTQ+ students,” Bonta, a Democrat, said in a statement.

This is effing CRAZY, even for California. Sacramento is so deeply wedded to the gay and tranny agenda that they'd rather confiscate rights away from parents. How can Dimms be behind this if they're parents themselves?

Teachers pick the children they like then pray on them and the state says , No Problem

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

Your kids are not your kids any more, you’re just the unpaid caretaker who foots all the bills.

I remember when a school had to get permission from a parent before giving a kid aspirin.

We put our kid into a school that is 100% 1-on-1 instruction with a curriculum that we hand select. We get daily reports on what the lesson was for that day and what’s coming up. It’s pricey but it’s worth it for us. We will not subject ours to today’s public school cesspool.

Simple solution:

Just flip the policy, notify parents if their kids HAVE NOT changed their gender identity.

violates civil rights and privacy laws

What's private about what you expect people to call you publicly? . . . and in fact, get all angry if they call you the "wrong" (accurate) thing?

This is turning a "public" (i.e., state-run) school into a private conspiracy--consisting at the very least of the teachers and all the kid's classmates, and apparently, the entire state of California--against his parents.

What is the reason, Mr. Bonta, for a school district NOT to inform parents as to what is going on with their minor children. YOU and school personnel are NOT the parent.

I’d pull my kids out of any district that implements this policy.

Make sure you vote down any/all school bond issues - my city has voted down several recently as the school district becomes more and more “woke” and anti-parent.

I will, don’t worry! You can’t change your biological sex anymore than you can change your species!

Mrs. Jones, Jeremy pretends to be a girl in our classroom.

The parents will find out.

One can't help wondering if anything will shock these people into reality.

I used to wonder how millions of people could have followed Hitler and his insanity. When I lived in Europe, it became even more perplexing when I saw how lovely ordinary Germans are.

I also wondered how the ancient Romans could give absolute power to a nutcase like Nero or Caligula or Tiberius.

Now I see my fellow Americans displaying astonishing craziness.

I still can't understand how people can abandon reason and common sense--and reality.

You’re talking with an Indonesian yellow crested cockatoo; years ago I was a boy but as I got older I grew feathers and a really cool yellow crown on my head.

It’s science!

Not in this state, I’m afraid. The activists are highly motivated and politically mobilized. There is a very large section of voters who are completely apathetic and vote straight party line, if they bother at all. So we have low turnout elections that scumbags use to bludgeon us with one insane policy after another.

“This is effing CRAZY, even for California.”

The policy come from DC.

With federal funding comes federal rules.

Federal funding should strictly be by formula based half on population (to help low income states) and half on state resident personal income taxation (to help high cost states). It should be send to a state government account and be solely usable for public infrastructure, transportation and 2005 Medicare scope medical.

The public school systems are the best way for the commies to really interfere with the parent-child relationship.

Block granting is necessary because the federal budget is too big for Congress to understand in detail. A California congressman typically has no idea how badly New Hampshire may need to replace a bridge.

Right. As illustrated in the heartbreaking scene from "Killing Fields" about the the Khmer Rouge wanted to do to children.

In 1872, Florida law required teachers to appropriately teach their students every Christian virtue.

If schools try to push perversion, parents will have to counter this at home. Perverts may come to learn that teaching perversion in public schools is a bad idea for everyone.
