The Hungarian government is stepping forward to help the families in Hawaii after the devastating and deadly Maui wildfires claimed more than 100 lives and leveled the homes and businesses in the Lahaina community.
Hungary is pledging to provide pop-up homes for 250 families by the end of October, with the first shipment of 20 delivered by the Hungarian Armed Forces by Monday, Hungarian Ambassador to the U.S. Szabolcs Takács, based in Washington, D.C., announced in statement to Newsmax.

If so, Orbán is not doing it on purpose. If this war spins out of control, it will affect Hungary, and not in a good way. Orbán is doing a balancing act here, doing what he thinks is best for Hungary. This seems to have upset the EU and a lot of other folks.
As a side note, Orbán’s Fidesz party is still popular in Hungary, although not as much as before. Is the decline due to Orbán’s policies, or is it due to general voter fatigue?

Yes he is doing it deliberately - there is no other logical explanation.
Russia would love nothing more that to run Hungry again, which could explain Orban hedging his bets, just in case Russia somehow finds the resources to take all of Ukraine - a very very unlikely outcome.

And you can count on the same “level of aid” from the OBiden regime when any other disaster befalls Americans. Legal Americans, that is. Count on lots of aid to the illegals, however. Nothing is too good for future non-American Democrat voters, dontcha know.
All four of my grandparents were born in Hungary. I speak the language, poorly. And I’m old enough to know exiles from the 1956 Revolution. One of them is still a good friend of mine.
So I have more than a passing interest in this matter. I could be wrong, but here’s how I see it.
Russia is the aggressor in this war. Yes, NATO stupidity provoked Russia in the past. But it was Russian tanks that crossed a sovereign border. Russia is the aggressor.
Now here’s where Hungary fits in. Hungary gets most of its natural gas from Russia. Orbán could roundly denounce Russia, and rely on the EU’s stupid green policy for energy instead. Or he could play it cool, and keep the cheap Russian gas flowing.
Orbán chose the latter option. That certainly upsets the EU. But I think it’s right for Hungary.
More than our President is doing for his own citizens.
