I point out that it's idiocy to tie every happening in the SMO directly to Putin, and IMMEDIATELY one of the Ukie neckbeards chimes in with: "ACKCHYUALLY"...

“Putin PERSONALLY oversaw the storage of these particular missiles”

Putin screwed up. Obviously.

“ Putin oversees the government structure that has repeatedly caused a litany of unforced errors. He has chosen his senior officers, and these have chosen theirs, down the hierarchy.”

That sounds awful. Nobody in America can imagine such a thing. Lol

You post intelligently on most other matters.

Why does your brain shut off when you see the words "Russia" or "Putin"?

You might want to have that looked in to.

This is universal. I got to thinking of it after reading Peter Drucker (I forget what book, in truth, it was that long ago), and working for a couple of years for AIG. Maurice (or Morris) Greenburg put a stamp on AIG of just that sort, you couldn’t miss it.

My brain also shuts off when I see bullies and thugs. Same thing.

This one will push them away some more.

Pushed to Murmansk perhaps?

You know I think you miss something , Russia has been using low text stuff to take out both drones and military jets by the simple expedient of dumpling Jet fuel on them. It’s not hard to design some kind of Counter measure to take out the cameras of the drones via oily residue and electronic jamming. Or maybe Russia will make good on it’s threats and take out the GPS satellites which the drones depend.

Bombing a military airfield is a terrorist attack? Even Putin fans won’t believe that one.

You’re an apologist for Russian aggression. It’s not a good look.

You're a neo-conned, complete with the usual attempted guilt-tripping.

It's not a good look.

700 miles for a helicopter style drone seems a bit out of range.

Helicopter style drones have limited endurance and speed, making them unsuitable for large scale aerial mapping, long-endurance monitoring and long-distance inspection such as pipelines, roads and power lines.

They are fundamentally very inefficient and require a lot of energy just to fight gravity and keep them in the air.

I’m not sure you can make a substantial drone (range, payload) with what amounts to a form of AI guidance for a couple thousand bucks. A quite good friend of mine who did work on exactly this sort of guidance, relying on DSP chips fed imagery data (visual, infrared, radar) has his doubts, but concedes that commercial grade electronics, as opposed to mil spec, would get the job done more often than not.

In any event, if the propulsion is relatively quiet, low, slow drones are nearly impossible to spot acoustically or with radar, and as you say, no control or GPS signals to jam. Very tough to stop until they are “on” you.

How do you spray oily gunk on the cameras when you don’t know where they are? Once the drone gets close it can rely on inertial guidance, esp. if the target is sizable.

The aircrafts which survived the attack are reportedly being being moved to an airfield in the Murmansk region.

IF that's correct, it is quite significant.

BTW, I should add that my friend did this work for several years back in the ‘90’s. The advances since are quite substantial.

I almost wonder if Belarussian dissidents could have launched something with Ukrainian assistance...
