On Thursday’s “Pod Save America” podcast, Senate Majority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) stated that people in the middle class “doubt” whether they have a future and that people have negative views of the economy because “people look at the economy six months ago” and it’s “still in their heads today.”
Schumer said the messaging strategy for Democrats on the economy is “to focus on what we’re doing. The two things people want the most, our data shows, are, get my costs down. They know that wages are going up. But when the costs go up and eat up the wage increase, it doesn’t do you much good. And make sure this country has a — the middle class has a future in this country. Even if you’re in the middle class now, you doubt it.”

I visited a company yesterday that was in turmoil. As of Monday of this week there were large layoffs. The people left were having trouble adjusting to working with different people than before.
One large testing apparatus failed. It certainly had been sabotaged by one that was laid off.
The factory is a Steel Workers Union shop. All the workers present were old, grey. Except one very loud and Black young woman who did nothing at all for the time I was there
The problem was said to be a decline in the housing market reduced the demand for their products.
My take....... recession is here
This is what George Bush Sr. said in 1992. Didn’t get him too far. But then again, back then, the media was actively pushing the “recession” narrative well into the 1992 recovery.
Gasoline JUST WENT UP again over ight. Jumped 5 cents and is due to rise even more as toens around us which are usually 20-30 cents less than our town are now about equal, so I expect our gasoline prices to jump another 25 cents in a few days.
Store item prices also a all time highs. And still rising! Paychecks aren’t keeping pace either!
Schumer hasn’t got a clue what the real world is like- he’s almost assuredly never been down to his last $50 for the week and needing to buy gasoline to make it to work in order to keep paying rediculous prices for everything!
