Less than one day after being arraigned on charges of trying to subvert the 2020 presidential race, former President Donald Trump on Friday called for the U.S. Supreme Court to step into the 2024 contest.
Trump, the top contender in the Republican presidential primary, claimed that dealing with numerous ongoing legal battles amounts to “election interference” — the very thing he is accused of conspiring to do in his latest indictment.
“My political opponent has hit me with a barrage of weak lawsuits, including D.A., A.G., and others, which require massive amounts of my time & money to adjudicate,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Friday morning.
“Resources that would have gone into Ads and Rallies, will now have to be spent fighting these Radical Left Thugs in numerous courts throughout the Country,” Trump wrote. “I am leading in all Polls, including against Crooked Joe, but this is not a level playing field.”
“It is Election Interference, & the Supreme Court must intercede,” he wrote.
While the Supreme Court has in the past been tasked with making major decisions about presidential elections — perhaps most notably by ruling on a disputed recount in Florida in 2000 — it’s far from clear what Trump expects the high court to do about his 78 criminal charges. In most cases, the Supreme Court has appellate jurisdiction, meaning it considers cases that have been appealed from lower courts.

Sounds like Trump is growing tired of winning.
Insert Fox News chyron.....
I notice he sidestepped calling the indictments indictments instead he called them lawsuits which they are not.
Just what can the Supreme Court do? They cannot give him immunity from persecution and prosecution. No Get Out of Jail Free card on the horizon. I do not understand why Trump’s really great attorneys would even try this gamit. There’s no win and losing it will only confirm what we already know in that Trump faces lots of different court actions.
And do what? The U.S. Supreme Court is not obligated to take any case. Remember the Kraken? Did it ever make it to the Court?
I’m not seeing the USSC doing anything with this. Even if they do, there will be a backlash from the left that puts Roe protests to shame. I’m not sure if that benefits Trump and Republicans in next year’s election.
Supremes can move the trial to their court due to urgency of situation.
This is where trumps strategy of criticizing , name calling , and pottying on those with whom he disagrees comes back to bite him. He’s made enemies of the very folks who otherwise might be pulling together to help him.
“I do not understand why Trump’s really great attorneys would even try this gamit.”
You don’t understand???
Mark Levin is a veteran legal scholar, and he understands, and advises Trump’s lawyers to take it to the Supreme Court so I think I will take his understanding over your inability to grasp things.
bttt
I’ve read what Levin proposes and I don’t see how he expects the court to act. Under what law or precedence? If I missed that, please share details on how Levin or Trump’s really great attorneys expect the court to based a helpful decision?

Have you paid attention to the mountain of criticizing, name calling, and pottying dumped on Trump 24/7 by the entire democrat/MSM and Republican candidates for president and you single out Trump as being alone at it?
Move over Al Sharpton.
You Trump haters beclown yourselves daily.
This sham prosecution would destroy the First Amendment.
The Court must do something to prevent that, at what stage, I’m not sure.
This also jeopardizes our democratic republic’s elections.
Need to file motions or writs, not issue public statements.
Well said.
Democrat Indictments = Inquisition
Both/and; not either/or.
Mark Levine suggested this a few days ago.
