Kristol is not exactly a trusted unbiased source on anything.

Jews survived by being useful
Hard to reduce an intellect like Frankel to a short phrase, I'd have said those Jews who survived did so through concentration, with a positive attitude, on the positives of their future. Clumsy wording, too long, and no matter. I'd be accused of antisemitism or racism if I said that about slavery. By people who know Frankel only as the owner of a Kosher deli (no, didn't own one)

Frankl survived the Holocaust, just as Frederick Douglas survived slavery. The left hates their stories because they contradict the victim hood narrative. The liberals argue, implicitly, that blacks could not have made it without liberal compassion. And they hate Jews for not only refusing their phony sympathy, but for succeeding without it, and doing so spectacularly on their own.
IMO, Gutfeld should keep his mouth shut about the history of the Holocaust that he obviously doesn’t understand and apologize for his ignorance.
Many Jews along with many Christian Poles and others who were sent to Auschwitz and other camps had skills and trades and some were highly educated, engineers, doctors, educators, for example, yet because they were not suited for the type of forced labor that benefited the Nazis in some of the camps (some camps were purely for extermination and some were more focused on forced labor, factory work for example such as was depicted in the movie Schindler’s List), were sent to the gas chambers and murdered shortly upon arrival after “the selection” along with countless women and children, infants and the elderly and infirmed.
Yes, some Jews in the camps were not immediately executed because they had some skills the Nazis found useful, yet many perished in the forced labor camps from malnutrition and the rampant diseases endemic in the concentration camps. Many only survived a few months under inhumane conditions despite any “skills” they may have had.
Some Jews were forced under threat of death to work in the crematoriums and in sorting the personal belongs taken from other Jews. Most lived with that horror for the rest of their lives, having what we would call PSDT or survivor’s guilt. Yes, the found a way to be “useful” but only in a desperate attempt to survive.

I watched the show and Greg cited a source. Of course, the Left will think he, Fox, and the audience believe otherwise. I hope Jessica says something about it if the tweet is brought up on The Five today. And to confuse non Fox viewers (but critics) even more: That’s Jesse, not Greg shown at the beginning of the clip. What he said is patently true. Those internees who could be helpful in operating the camps were kept alive for awhile, most slowly starved and worked to death. The rest, too young, too old, too sick, or just over the quota, in their millions, were murdered shortly after arrival. The survivors, tattooed like branded cattle, to the Germans’ dismay and shame giving witness, did make it out because they were somehow useful. Gutfeld denied nothing.
