Don’t bet on it.

The true believers are starting to turn against “renewable” like wind and solar now that it’s actually become somewhat practical and it’s expanding.

https://www.politico.com/story/2013/04/earth-day-energy-greens-environmentalists-090387

It’s finally dawning on them that it impacts the environment like any other energy source.

And of course we can’t have anything that disturbs mother nature.

So back to unicorn farts.

We'll see. My oldest is a land use and environmental attorney with a pretty good track record on industrial process sites. She is neither pro or con in regards to technology or resources extraction and development. She's one of the ones that goes over process plans and structures for corporations to assure safety and environmental rules compliance.

She's always worried when public taxpayer money is involved. Her firm usually represents a side at the planning stage before permits are issued. She has fought for the city-state and developer to begin a project, and she has litigated against bad ones and bad actors.

With 25% unemployed — a population of 11,000 — I’d bet that none have the specialized skills the company’s looking for, and they seem to want some past experience. Maybe selling their homes will profit them... into a trailer court.

Another person that can’t see the difference between tearing up the ground for coal and tearing it up for lithium. #metoo

I fantasize sometimes that the media and ‘advocacy’ groups got held to the standards I get held to professionally. I don’t get to have a job if I lie and get caught doing it.

She subscribes to the Mel Ellis brand of environmentalism.

I’ve seen a lot of fork lifts that run off of propane too.

If environmentalists REALLY cared about the earth that would want as much mining and drilling done in the USA. Where we actually have rules that are usually enforced.

They probably have nothing to worry about as the EPA will swoop in and find some reason to prevent them from getting high-paying mining jobs.

Worker safety too. I was at a mine in Indonesia and they said they had the best safety record in the entire country and were very proud of it.

I was there for three months and two people died in accidents! But it employed thousands, so percentage-wise they were rated “excellent”!

Displaced villages, silted up the rivers, etc. Heck - the mine (and nearby prospects) “displaced” the entire region. Indonesia was supposed to give the area their independence (Irian Jaya) but then the minerals were discovered....
