“Huge potential for hearing damage. This is why suppressors should be legal and encouraged.”

_____

I’m sure she wasn’t thinking of that at the time, but that is so true. Suppressors should be legal and encouraged so that you DON’T have to think about ear protection when faced with an emergency. We try to keep ear protection near each firearm so it can be grabbed if time allows but it would be so nice if each gun could have a standard sound suppressor included. If they were legal and a industry standard was introduced, the prices of such would eventually come down.

But too many politicians have been convinced that suppressors are like those in the movies and make a gun noiseless. That’s not true. It simply reduces the decibels to a level so that a gunshot is not damaging to the eardrums.

The noise might hsve been mitigated if she’d pressed the muzzle firmly against the perp when firing.
