If he wou like doing gave backed Trump during this election, he would have walked away with t by e nomination in 28. He’s pretty stupid.
Outstanding post and on point.
Well said. Many on Free Republic seem to take the position, that if DeSantis doesn’t win the presidency in 2024, his political career is over.
But as you note, history has some examples of people who did not win the nomination the first time around in the primaries, eventually do win in future years.

100 % agree. What will shape his future potential is how far down the road he travels listening to his current advisors.
Also, wasn’t H. Dean kin somehow to GWB?
“I am never foolish enough to plan in the absence of data.”
That is an interesting comment.
I guess that is why you didn’t go to school, get an education, and start a career - you were waiting for data on how long you would live and how it would all end.
All of DeSantis’ conservative moves happened only recently. So, I doubt he could keep up the facade until 2028. His popularity came mostly since the plandemic. People would forget most of that by ‘28 and his performance in Florida would only be worse by then. He’s no Obama popularity wise.
He couldn’t wait until 2028, I sense. It’s got to be now for him.
Who knows if it matters, because it sure appears we may not have another valid election the way our government has been performing.
Supporters of President Trump and ex-secret service agents are talking about the possibility of the Deep State doing the unthinkable.
If you are not concerned about that possibility you should be. At the same time, it is kind of quaint that you have absolute trust in today's secret service, FBI, CIA, and others in Deep State Washington.

After watching Trump lose in 2018, 2020, 2021, and 2022, you can't blame the guy for thinking maybe we should look elsewhere in 2024.
I, for one, don't want another four more years of Biden/Harris where they get to replace Alito and Thomas on the Supreme Court and that's what we'll get if Trump is the GOP nominee.
Trump has no strategy to win back the swing states that he lost in 2020 other than to deny he ever lost them in the first place. And he can keep doing this until he's blue in the face, it's not going to get him to 270.
And the specific DeSantis plan is???????
DeSantis has never lost an election and he isn't toxic to swing voters, independents, and small 'r' Republicans like Trump is.
He brings home the MAGA vote --as Brian Kemp did, even if they are a little bit butthurt over it. And he brings home all the other voters who won't vote for Trump for any reason and who WILL cost him the election.
He does have to get past Trump in the primaries and right now that's an uphill battle. The good news for DeSantis is that while Trump is broke and mired in endless legal problems, he's swimming in cash and Trump has no ground-game in Iowa. If DeSantis can take Iowa six months from now, his fortunes will quickly change.
It’s like the Obama Presidency. He actually ran on nothing so everyone was very hopeful until he showed his cards. Hard no on Desanctimonius
Barak Obama is a MUCH better campaigner than Desanctimonius. He lost NH and his speech was so good it was as he won. If Desanctimonius loses NH does anyone think he’ll do a speech so good that it’ll make everyone thing Trump lost? Yea, it’s not over but Desanctimonius is STILL not likable.
DeSantis has never lost an election and he isn’t toxic to swing voters, independents, and small ‘r’ Republicans like Trump is.

Sorry but that is an extremely naive and myopic view of the real world. After 2020, just not sure how anyone paying attention can have those thoughts.
Are you not the least bit concerned over the lawfare efforts to take Trump out or are you good with it?
And what evidence would you like to cite pertaining to “Trump has no ground game in Iowa”???
And help me remember...who won the 2016 republican primary in Iowa??? I’ll wait patiently.
Ohhhh...and 2012?
But you know...ground game and all..........
OK...I apologize. I didn’t recognize the sarcasm on your post when talking about Trump’s ground game in Iowa. /Capital S
So yeah...pilling on a little but all in good fun.
Soros connection is certainly questionable. Depp state not questionable.
With support from people like Bushes, Karl Rove and Paul Ryan, why you question it?
Don’t trust the guy, his voice is grating, his donors are sketch, I will never vote for this guy, ever.
