Florida man Ron DeSantis is at an all-time low in GOP delegate number predictions, dropping more than 400 since declaring his candidacy, according to ‘Race to the WH,’ which tracks the latest GOP polling data.
DeSantis was predicted to receive around 1,413 delegates as late as February 25 this year, leading former President Donald Trump by almost 400. Since then, support for DeSantis has dropped precipitously, with the Governor now forecasted to receive only 405 delegate votes, down from 834 on May 25 – the day after his “historic screw-up” presidential campaign launch on Twitter spaces.
Former President Donald Trump, on the other hand, is leading the Republican primary race in 49 US states and is expected to receive as many as 2051 delegate votes in a head-to-head with DeSantis: far more than the necessary 1,234 to win the race for the Republican presidential nomination.
Worse still for DeSantis, Trump is predicted to attain a “decisive” victory in his home state of Florida, where the former President is predicted to receive 45 percent of the vote and gain 125 delegates.
This comes as the latest statistical blow to the Governor of Florida, who had to change the subject to the amount of corporate cash he has received when asked about his poor polling last week. The Governor is also expected to hold crisis talks with donors next week to insist that he is playing the “long game” and not just getting thrashed.

“dropping more than 400 since declaring his candidacy”
Seems people liked the idea of a Ron DeSantis candidacy more than the reality of a Ron DeSantis candidacy.

That has to be discouraging for all of the Online DeSanctimonious Influencers infesting FreeRepublic.
All that work denigrating President Trump by lying about his record and posting propaganda gone to waste.

If he’d just waited until 2028.
Instead, Ron listened to Karl Rove, Paul Ryan, and the Bushes.

Has anybody seen the recent chart of the Dollar Index (DXY)? It looks eerily similar to DeSantis’ poll numbers or chances of winning this.🤔🤨🤦

I recall quite a few people, right here on Free Republic, who said that we don’t do coronations in the Republican Party. They welcomed the idea of DeSantis and the host of competitors for Trump in the primaries.
So maybe some of those people did like the concept of DeSantis and others running, but, even with others running, Trump is the odds on favorite.

Against some recent data, there is a potential restructuring that is worthy of discussion. The epic failures of the DeSantis campaign and Never Back Down SuperPAC are well documented.
In essence, everything has backfired because the origin of almost everything was/is built upon a fraudulent premise. From the scheming and conniving going all the way back to the original 2018 campaign, to the proactive recruitment of the exact wrong influencers 18 months prior to the official launch, to the enlistment of the Cruz crew, to the covert national campaign under the faked auspices of a book tour, everything paid for by the Sea Island group has been a hot mess.
Now the clock is ticking faster. Ken Cuccinelli and Jeff Roe are under pressure. Javier Manjarres, a solid insider in Florida media, shares today that Pushaw is getting the loyal but firm campaign stiff arm:
The DC chattering class then release an article talking about Youngkin or Kemp as alternatives to DeSantis:
[…] A Republican strategist who keeps in regular contact with several Republican presidential campaigns predicted DeSantis will “retool” his super PAC in the next few weeks. “They probably got another month to turn this thing around and if they don’t they’re going to have to bring someone and do a major retooling,” the source said. (read more)
They are not waiting a month; the retooling indications are already evident.
The DeSantis managers are going to retool in the next few days, a process I believe is already underway, and have about one more month before the donors stop writing checks and accept the futility of the principal effort.
Within the Sea Island group there has always been an insurance policy discussion in case DeSantis failed. The DC chatter about Youngkin or Kemp is not arbitrary; there is some substance to the presentation as outlined by those connected to the professional Republican class. The most likely person, however, is GA Republican Brian Kemp, not Youngkin.
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp is more deeply connected to the professional political GOPe group. He’s a company man with company bona fides. Kemp is also not a big fan of DeSantis and the ego-centric rise to stardom as promoted by a very specific subset of the overall Big Club group. Governor Kemp views Governor DeSantis as a Republican politician who has not earned the merit claimed by his supporters, and instead was gifted a glide path by the Bush group simply for being a Floridian.
If the DeSantis handlers do not turn this around, and they will try – but won’t succeed – because their spiral is too severe now, be on the lookout for a much more likely Brian Kemp to enter. Again, a Newsom -vs- Kemp contest is just as good an outcome as the original Newsom -vs- DeSantis goal.
Like Cruz in 2016, the DeSantis team will stay in, they will not exit until the money dries up, but for all intents and purposes they will be forced to shift objectives, and DeSantis will need to modify his approach to remain in a club position of future financial benefit.
Watch the Republican Governors Association for the first indications. They are going to double down on DeSantis before they give up and shift.
The money behind the RNC is the same money behind the RGA.
Watch the RGA!

should have done the smart thing and rallied behind the two-time winner, Trump.
He would have been a shoe-in for 2028, or possibly VP 2024 (yes I know about the rule about two candidates from the same state- Trump has many residences...)
Imagine if instead of infighting with Trump we all organized to stop the massive vote fraud?

Good news for Trump.
The desantis strategy of stealing delegates after the vote will not work.

It does seem like one of the dumbest political decisions in recent memory. Right up there with Hillary’s “I don’t need to campaign in flyover country” decision.

I support President Trump in his 2024 bid.
However, if someone wants to support DeSantis because he thinks Trump is too old, or that Trump won’t win swing states, or he wants someone who can pick different advisors, I am not going to accuse him of being an operative or an “influencer” (except to the degree that we are all influencers when we speak our mind).
It is way to early to write DeSantis off. John Kerry was left for dead at this time in 2003, and wound up being the nominee. All it took was a “Yeeeargh!”
I know, that contest didn’t have a big dog in it, but Obama’s numbers were similar at this point in 2007. I know, Mrs. Clinton is no Trump, and DeSantis doesn’t have the appeal that Obama did to many at the time, nor the minority check boxes.
My point is that every election is different, and I am not going to write off candidates because the poll numbers are dropping. A lot can happen in six months.
Here’s to a brisk but fair primary season!
Trump 2024!

Imagine if instead of infighting with Trump we all organized to stop the massive vote fraud? Yup. That would have been the best course of action.
But the GOPe doesn't want that.
For their next trick, the GOPe will present the loathsome Governor Brian Kemp.
To: conservative98
The Republican base hates the GOPe leadership. They have betrayed the base far too often and now they will have to pay for it.

Even if Desantis loses in 2024, remember Nixon ran in 1960 and lost, came back an won in 1968, Ronald Reagan ran in 1976 and didn’t win the nomination, came back an won in 1980.
John McCain was reduced to carrying his own luggage in 2008, went on to win the nomination, the point being to write off DeSantis in July is premature.
Any number of things could happen. Trump could be a convicted Felon by early next year, who knows.
Right now if the election were held, Trump would win the nomination easily, but the primaries don’t start for months.
