Carlishia Hood, 35, had been accused of getting her son, 14, to shoot dead Jeremy Brown, 32, on June 18.
Charges against the two were ditched after Cooks County State Attorney Kim Foxx announced her office had backtracked on the charges.
Brown could be seen yelling at Hood to 'get your food!' as she starts to argue with him.
While she continued to yell back at him, he shouted: 'Oh my God, if you say one more thing, I'm going to knock you out.'
He then took a big swing and punched her, with other customers in the store looking on in horror and running away.
Foxx initially charged the mother with murder and contributing to the delinquency of a minor – but has since dropped the charges after a new video of Brown repeatedly punching Hood came to light.

Video exists of guys being knocked out in the “knockout” game and later dying from their injuries..
One punch, one dead person. Seems to me he should at least be tried for manslaughter. Blacks have a culture problem. Their answer to any disagreement seems to be to get a gun and shoot the person. How tough would it have been for her to just shut her damn mouth and walk away?

Does anyone think the guy he killed hasn't got "homies" plotting revenge?
On one hand, I think the world is a better place now that Brown is no longer in it.
On the other hand, I don’t think justice is being applied equally here. If the race of the mother and son were Caucausian, they would be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

I was under the impression that being assaulted in such a manner was regarded as reason to respond with equal deadly force because a reasonable person would rightly fear serious bodily injury or death.
Where do you get 1 punch from? The assailant was punching the boy’s mother multiple times in the face.
And most everyone here would be rightly defending the boy’s use of deadly force. Why not now when the boy is black?
