At the Heart of the Documents Case: Trump’s Attachment to His Boxes
NY Slimes ^

Posted on 06/16/2023 11:05:10 AM PDT by GulliverSwift

During President Donald J. Trump’s years in the White House, his aides began to refer to the boxes full of papers and odds and ends he carted around with him almost everywhere as the “beautiful mind” material.

It was a reference to the title of a book and movie depicting the life of John F. Nash Jr., the mathematician with schizophrenia played in the film by Russell Crowe, who covered his office with newspaper clippings, believing they held a Russian code he needed to crack.

The phrase had a specific connotation. The aides employed it to capture a type of organized chaos that Mr. Trump insisted on, the collection and transportation of a blizzard of newspapers and official documents that he kept close and that seemed to give him a sense of security.

One former White House official, who was granted anonymity to describe the situation, said that while the materials were disorganized, Mr. Trump would notice if somebody had riffled through them or they were not arranged in a particular way. It was, the person said, how “his mind worked.”

... His intense desire to keep the materials comes through in a text message cited in the indictment about the possibility of the boxes being moved after they were shipped to Mar-a-Lago, his Florida residence and private club.

When one employee asked the other if some could be moved to storage, the second employee, identified by multiple people as Mr. Trump’s former assistant Molly Michael, replied, “Woah!! Ok so potus specifically asked Walt for those boxes to be in the business center because they are his ‘papers.’”

At another point, she used the phrase “the beautiful mind paper boxes” in a text message, the indictment says.

He invited the National Archives to come in, and go through the boxes. They did, in Feb. 2022, and left with 15 boxes, including the letter Obama left for Trump, and a letter from Kim-Jung-Un.

They violated their own Archive rules, and let Sandy Berger view original classified documents on two separate occasions on his own, without being observed, which he then walked away with both times, and destroyed. Those original classified documents, consisting of a report on the 2000 millennium attack plots, from the Clinton Administration had yet to be inventoried when they disappeared. Clinton left the White House in January 2001, yet the originals of that report had yet to be inventoried by September and October 2003 when Berger stole them. And we're to believe that they knew Trump had certain documents? Bullshit!

The Archives had no idea that Obama's Presidential papers were sitting in an abandoned furniture store and warehouse, didn't know Biden had thousands of documents sitting in various places since he left the V.P.'s office in 2017, didn't know Pence had classified documents, but they knew exactly what they were missing from Trump? I'm betting they don't have all of Obama's papers to this day, nor have they been inventoried, but they are being anal about Trump? I call it fabricated concern in order to get rid of Trump.

It all boils down to this. Nobody in the government gave a hoot what Obama, Biden or Pence had in their possession. It only mattered that they get their hands on Donald Trump's papers, because they are so afraid that he might have something that incriminates them. That's the gist of the whole thing we're seeing now.

Fitton's organization deals with Federal Law of all types, security and otherwise since they've been fighting the government for years to get documents released through Freedom of Information.

He likely still has them and they've probably never been inventoried yet. Those original documents that Berger stole from the Archives in September and October 2003 had not yet been inventoried, despite Clinton having left the White House in 2001. The Archives didn't even know what they had when they were stolen, and we're supposed to believe they know exactly what Trump is in possession of?

Bullshit! That’s their official statement. I doubt it’s anywhere near that.

I spent many years doing research at the National Archives, going through military and pension records, court-martial records, etc. for Civil War soldiers. NARA wasn’t even in possession of all Union Civil War soldier records. There were times they told me they didn’t have the records I was seeking. At one point, I had to write my Congressman to get the records from the VA who shouldn’t have had them since the war had been over for 136 years at the time. Nobody from the Archives bothered to match up their microfilm records with their actual holdings, or they would have known they were missing those records. The Archives is clueless in regards to actually knowing what the frig they’ve got in their possession.

“If NARA was holding his records why didn’t they rent a facility near his home like they did with Obama, Bush, Clinton, etc?”

They didn’t because Trump declined to name a place for his presidential library, presumably because he was going to run again. NARA decided to store the documents from the 45 administration in its DC area facilities.

What’s your proof to the contrary? I would love to have a link to cite if you have one.

Fitton is a grifter who was in league with Larry Klayman, a guy who used to scam Freepers with pretend fantasies of removing Clinton from office.

Please, it was the Republicans in the Senate that refused to convict Clinton after he was impeached. 10 asshole Republicans voted not guilty with the Democrats on the first article of impeachment. 5 asshole Republicans voted not guilty with the Democrats on the second article of impeachment. Larry Layman, nor Tom Fitton had anything to do with that. Put the blame where it belongs.

I can’t believe you don’t remember what a swindle that Judicial Watch became. Even Klayman admitted this.

Concerning— especially as to whether they were ever said.
Quoting the NYSlimes is hardly a “source” of anyone other than fibbie narrative writers.

Assumption of truth of everything may be a problem— naive in the extreme.

That’s okay...don’t respond to my comment that back in 1999 there were Republican traitors in the Senate then too. I don’t give a crap that they kicked Larry Klayman out. It doesn’t speak for the work they have been doing in recent years in getting the government to produce documents. As far as I’m concerned, they are doing the work the Republicans in Congress won’t do.

Sorry you posted so much I missed some of your statements. Of course the Republicans in the Senate went against the law with their votes.

But Fitton and JW were constantly pimping all kinds of crap that they swore was going to bring Clinton down. Not just Monica stuff. And none of it ever came up with anything real.

I foolishly gave them some donations and regret doing so.

What investigation work are the House GOP not doing that you would like to see?

I am still pissed that Berger did not get jail time for his crimes.

My main point of this thread is not to defend NARA bureaucrats but rather to note what these back-stabbing Trump aides were saying in private. I really think Trump needs to do a purge of his staff.

And that (NARA storage) wasn’t offered to Trump.

I hope not, because that would be a strong argument in his favor. But I've seen no evidence that it's true. Nor have I heard anyone affiliated with Trump claim it, either. Do you have any sort of a source?

"But Fitton and JW were constantly pimping all kinds of crap that they swore was going to bring Clinton down."

And anyone who believed that when they didn't, or couldn't legally have anything to do with the actual impeachment was a gullible fool. Impeachments are conducted by the government, not some outside agency.

"What investigation work are the House GOP not doing that you would like to see?"

Voter fraud. When Gore tried to steal the 2000 election, it should have been a wake-up call to the Republicans in Congress. It wasn't. Over 20 years have passed, and they've done nothing to protect your ballot or mine from fraud. They are useless, gutless bastards. The only time they know you is when they want something from you. After January 6th, I changed my 50+ year registration from Republican to no party. If I'm alive next year, and get to vote for Donald Trump a third time, even if I have to write him in, I'm having my voter registration permanently removed from the rolls. I'm done with the GOP. They don't deserve my vote.

The lawyers wrote that in one of their arguments. It was in a letter form and they said that Trump is the only President that was not offered. He didn’t think anything of it because he had a secure location with secret service guards.

They apparently were supposed to offer all kinds of help, but didn’t.
