Yet you’re okay with Russia invading and stealing land from its smaller neighbors.

Hypocrite.

“The relationship between the United States and Hungary is becoming increasingly combative”

And I am rooting for Hungary.

Erik Latranyi: [We are bullying Hungary into supporting Sweden’s entry into NATO.

Hungary should be free to choose if they support that or not.

The US is absolutely no different than the USSR in this matter while “pretending” to respect Hungary’s independence.]

We completely respect Hungary’s independence. Short of Hungary’s direct participation in an attack against NATO countries, you won’t see NATO troops invading Hungary. To be honest, it’s not even clear why Hungary is in NATO. It doesn’t actually need to be. It doesn’t border any big aggressive states. The principal rationalization for Hungary’s alliance with Germany in the run-up to and during WWII, followed by a Cold War allied with Russia, is the reality that it faced a threat from Germany, and later, from Russia. Today’s situation is completely different. Of its non-NATO neighbors, Austria and Serbia are military non-entities, Ukraine isn’t expansionist, and pretty much spends all of its limited resources guarding against Russia. Why is Hungary in NATO? Maybe it would be better off neutral, much as Finland was, until recently.

Liar.

If the US respected Hungary's independence, they would not be using these tactics to expand NATO membership.

It was the US that allowed Hungary to join NATO. Now, because Hungary does not support the criminal Biden foreign policy of expanding NATO, it may not be able to buy the arms it needs to defend its borders.

Great military alliance on display!

NATO members were supposed to be equals in NATO decisions.

“If you are on our side will will give you tools to make your people’s lives better.”

For a price.

It is all loans, backed up by hard assets, such as ports which may be used for military purposes.

The Chinese do not forgive loans.

FYI - much of the world sees no difference in Russia expanding its territory to NATO expanding its territory.

You only see it differently because you think we are the good buys and still hate a Russia that no longer exists.

We could have a strained, but working relationship with Russia if we did not have warmongers in leadership in this nation.

“”which includes 24 HIMARS rocket launcher batteries, and more than 100 rockets and pods along with associated parts and support.” “””

Hungary can go on its own anytime but if they want the protective alliance, the lives, and the weapons of the other 30 members then it can’t be an obstacle to strengthening the alliance. and be a force lessening its capabilities.

Erik Latranyi: [You are a filthy LIAR. Hungary has NEVER supported Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Hungary has been one of the NATO nations standing up against the warmongering by Biden and the endless supply of weapons. Hungary is on Trump’s side and wants a negotiated peace.

Stop spreading leftwing LIES. ]

Hungary supports a ceasefire that would have Russia hanging on to its gains. That’s about as clear a case of supporting Russia’s invasion as anyone can get. If someone steals your car, you get into a fight with him, and some bystander urges that the fight be stopped with the car thief remaining in possession of your vehicle, most would take the guy’s interjection to mean he supports the car thief. The US is a “warmonger” over the invasion of Ukraine, in much the same way it was a “warmonger” in supplying Britain after Germany invaded Western Europe. Its “warmongering” is basically a meaningless epithet applied by supporters of the invader.

Then NATO is run by the US and no other member has a say. You are a fascist.

Outside of the West and the developed countries, most of world consists of corrupt stone killers stealing their countries blind. It takes a special kind of moral blindness to equate the expansion of a defensive alliance that has literally never invaded and annexed a country, with an empire like Russia that has done little but invade and annex for the last thousand years. It is testimony to Russia’s vast appetite that it alone is 2/3 of the land area of NATO combined, and 4x the total size of Europe’s NATO members.

The first country in Europe to break free from the Soviet sphere seems to be the first going back into a dictatorship.

Erik Latranyi: [Boy are you a slimeball.

Trump and DeSantis support a ceasefire as well, which freezes everything followed by a negotation for peace. That is how it works.

If you say that is supporting Russia, then Trump/DeSantis support Russia’s invasion. ]

If that is how they play it if elected, that would an accurate reading, that they are on Russia’s side. Trump talked up Russia before being elected, then spent his entire tenure bashing Russia’s brains in, including an incident in Syria no other US president in the nuclear age would have authorized, where hundreds of Russians were killed. If that is Trump’s response in a no-stakes incident in Podunkville, Syria, that nobody cares about, an invasion in the heart of Europe calls for the big stick. My expectation is that they are shining on people like you as necessary for a primary victory.

But in the larger scheme of things, there’s no way to interpret the annexation of Ukraine by Russia as anything but an American defeat. Whether under a DeSantis or Trump administration, an American president who let Russia conquer Ukraine would be thought a loser, in much the same way the fall of Iran left an indelible impression on Carter’s reputation. That’s why no US president, Democrat or Republican, will let this go. Biden is likely on Putin’s payroll, and he’s not letting it go. No way any other US president will let it stand.

Don’t make it personal and don’t call names.

My post said it all, if Hungary wants to be in the 31-member alliance and wants to buy its weapons and have its soldiers and sailors willing to die to protect Hungary, then they cannot prevent it from getting better and more effective, especially for no reason.
