The move is aimed at putting pressure on Hungary regarding the expansion of the alliance ahead of next month’s summit. The relationship between the United States and Hungary is becoming increasingly combative, napi.hu reports. So much so, that Senator James E. Risch, the ranking Republican member of the Foreign Relations Committee, is stopping the USD 735 million US arms sale to Hungary for not contributing to Sweden’s membership of NATO.

Risch told The Washington Post that “Hungary must allow Sweden into NATO if it wants the arms package, which includes 24 HIMARS rocket launcher batteries, and more than 100 rockets and pods along with associated parts and support.” The decision to curb new arms sales from Budapest shows the growing anger of NATO supporters such as Risch towards Hungary, the paper adds. “The fact that it is now June and still not done, I decided that the sale of new U.S. military equipment to Hungary will be on hold,” said Risch, whose objection prevents the Foreign Ministry from moving forward with the sales process. A spokesman for the US State Department declined to comment, as did a spokesman for the Hungarian government.

What a great alliance we have when the big nation bullies the smaller ones.

The US is no longer the good guy on the world stage.

Agree. Biden's foreign policy has been an absolute disaster. But then this is also true of his domestic policy. We expected he would be bad, just not this bad.

The United States treats an ally properly only when the ally behaves like a toady, and agrees to every American demand.

Otherwise the ally is treated like a naughty child, one who must be sent to bed without supper. But that’s still better treatment than other nations get. Those nations often get invaded.

US foreign policy is to make the world safe for perverts.

Hungary is not on the pervert team.

If Trump were in, Hungary would be a great ally.

“Risch became a millionaire as one of Idaho’s most successful trial lawyers.”

“Risch ran for the U.S. Senate seat held by the retiring Larry Craig in the 2008 election....Risch was reelected in 2014 and 2020.”

“On January 21, 2020, during the first day of opening arguments in Trump’s Senate impeachment trial, Risch was the first senator to fall asleep.”

“Risch was participating in the certification of the 2021 United States Electoral College vote count when Trump supporters stormed the United States Capitol. He called the attack ‘unpatriotic and un-American in the extreme’ and suggested it was spurred by ‘deep distrust in the integrity and veracity of our elections.’”

“The US is no longer the good guy on the world stage.”

Consider this. The US hasn’t been the “good guy” for a very long time....like...every time the Democrats and RINOs are in control and making the military decisions. I think the last time we were the good guys was back when Reagan was president. That was decades ago. Sad and scary reality...but explains a lot. Like how God seemingly has turned away from America now.

Yes. And the world would be a much safer place. That’s something I should have added to my post #5.

“24 HIMARS rocket launcher batteries, and more than 100 rockets and pods”

Ukraine probably has priority anyway.

RFK Jr. made a good point in one of his speeches.

After the emergence of China on the world stage their path and ours has been drastically different.

For the past 30 years, China has gone around the world building bridges in Africa, building roads in South America, building schools in the Middle East, building factories in Asia, etc... They tell the people, “If you are on our side will will give you tools to make your people’s lives better.”

They are certainly trying to spread their influence and gain control over the local populace but that is the method they have chosen.

On the other hand, the US has gone around the world selling arms to dictators, oligarchs and 3rd world shit holes to fight other countries and oppress their own citizens. We tell countries...”If you are on our side, we will help you kill people to maintain your power.”

You are right. We are the baddies.

It wouldn’t surprise me in the least that if Hungary “purchased” these, that an implied condition of sale would be that they “donate” them to Ukraine hence roping them into alienating the Russians.

It’s pathetic. These are not American values. Notice that it’s a piece of chit Republican doing this. The vast majority of Republican politicians have no idea what the average voter thinks and does.
