Thanks for the link. What a wealth of documentation, it appears to be. It will take some time just to sample it (which I will do over time). Decades back I cam across a similar archive of the evil idiocy of Goebbels, pre-WWII. Also a trove of info, which took time to sample. I was grateful for that, and am grateful to have this one to sample. History is sometimes better “read” by reading original documents. Again, thanks.

LOL!
Actually I have the book upstairs, and I could have just checked it. But I’ll just wing it. Thanks for the correction.

We know who did it but that has zero to do with who they will claim did it
On balance Ukraine had more to gain though I think both sides suffer from it
Just because Ukraine might have more to gain doesn't mean they did it.

Actually, since the dam was already mined by the Russian military, it is also possible that the actual demolition was an accident or incompetence.

--- "...it is also possible that the actual demolition was an accident or incompetence."
It is my tendency to attribute accidents and / or incompetence to much, often followed with "not my fault."
Why? Because it's someone else's fault, of course.
In the seemingly unrelated threads about San Francisco's current travails, a Democrat supported by Democrats locally in a Democrat-run state with a Democrat super-majority says a Democrat -- Biden -- has "not done enough" regarding a crisis.
Question: Is such a buck-passing an accident -- Democrat blames Democrat, oops -- or incompetence -- Democrat blames Democrat, oops?
"...accidents and / or incompetence?" It's what's being served up in heaping platefuls these days. In Europe and the Middle East. In our United States. In Asia and beyond. "This time it will work" even though it failed the twenty previous times. But if it fails again, it's not my fault....

That is significant turnaround from “the Russians did it”.
