Millennials Are Starting to Shift to the Right
Townhall ^ | 06/03/2023 | Sarah Arnold

As the Democratic Party becomes more progressive, radical, and insistent on its push for a liberal agenda, young Americans are stepping away and leaning toward the Right.

According to data from Nate Cohn with the New York Times, millennials are shifting towards the Republican Party.

Liberalism is not what it used to be before the 2000s. Being liberal in today's society does not mean walking around barefoot, selling flowers along the highway, and burning your bra. Instead, it means supporting LGBTQ propaganda and being brainwashed by an 80-year-old president who doesn't remember where he is half the time.

The data from the study found that nearly 50 percent of people born between 1980 and 1984 now vote Republican in presidential elections— a trend widely compared to the voting habits of the youngest Generation X voters who came before them. Moreover, despite millennials born between 1985 and 1994 still voting for the Democratic candidate, the data shows they have made definitive shifts towards the Right since 2012, the same year President Obama was re-elected.

Rainbows have turned into a virtue-signaling symbol that shows how radical you are, and if a brand doesn't display it, then the woke mob will beat you down until you give to their extreme Left narrative. For decades, sports teams with the same logos have suddenly changed their appearance because liberals got offended. The Democratic Party has shifted away from what millennials remember it as, which could be a reason for the change in political views.

According to Times estimates, while millennials backed Obama, only half of those voters supported President Joe Biden in 2020. Exit polls show an even broader shift, with "Biden winning by just 51-45 among voters who were 18 to 27 in 2008."

A Times/Siena College poll found that the same group of voters "preferred Democratic congressional candidates by just 10 points" in last year's midterms, adding that "the Democrats and the Democratic brand are in deep trouble."

Cohn argued that Republicans likely have won voters by "colorblind messaging on race" and "becoming the 'anti-establishment' party." In contrast, the Democratic Party won voters because of the "Iraq war or same-sex marriage."

Well, they better hurry the hell up or they aren’t going to have that option anymore. Right wingers are a dying breed. It’s all fascist hos from here on out.

Don’t tell the republicans. They’ll work to shift them to the left!

You don’t have to tell them, it just happens.

Incompetent psychotic pinkos will tend to make normal people question a few things. Why is youth wasted on the young!?

Shifting to the Right doesn’t necessarily mean Republican, just increases the probability.

I’d love to see more of them become Conservatives, especially as they realize that much of the nonsense they’ve been fed simply does not work.

When the ‘kids’ (meaning grandkids at this point, and some great-grands) have a problem, they call ‘Papa’, whom they have discovered has a large skill set, and can drop a little wisdom their way without being harsh about it.
It is up to us to show them what works, not just point out what doesn’t.

“Why is youth wasted on the young!?”

..OOO ... I know ... I know ...
Because old folks would just put it on a shelf and save it for later... in case they need it.

But seriously .... it's a shame that some things can only be learned by personal experience over time.
I saw that in myself ... I saw it in my sons .... I see it in my grand children.

It makes me wonder how that instant learning brain implant will work out . .. And it's coming ...

It's good to see that there is push back against the darkness but with so many of the fundamentals broken ... church .. family .. community .. it's a long roe to hoe.

Demographics aren't looking to good either.

But ..... it'll all come out in the wash. or so they say ...

“It is up to us to show them what works,”

yup good point ...

” drop a little wisdom their way without being harsh about it.”

I could use a little help with that one sometimes....

My favorite rhetorical question: “How’s that working out for you?”

The trick is not to act judgemental—that just puts them on the defensive, and makes the conversation adversarial. Suggesting something that might work better helps, but you have to wait until they are ready for it.
Twelve grandkids, eleven (and counting) great-grands, so
I’ve had a bit of practice.

” “How's that working out for you?””
so that's it ?

well .... how's that working out for you?

just kidding .... 5 grand kids , so I'm bringing up the rear here.
Sometimes it's like there is a filter in the air .. that changes what I say to something else before it hits their ears.

I'll go with the “How's that working out for you?” and see what happens ... but I'm afraid they may still hear something like “ how's THAT working out for you?” or “how's that WORKING OUT for YOU?” or “ I'm just a MEAN old man that doesn’t want you to be happy” ...

Life is a cool ride .... a lot of twist and turns ..
I'll just stand fast, God knows what He is doing. 8-)

It used to be thought that at the age of 30, adults came to their senses and became conservative.

It appears present day 40 year olds are seeing the wisdom in being traditional and common sensible.

I’ll TAKE THE DELAY, gladly.

Well, start out with telling them that you want to see them happy. Let them talk about how things are going, sometimes biting your tongue, but let them talk about it (most of mine are girls, and letting them talk lets them mull things over themselves).

Seeming non-judgemental is the trick. It takes a light touch to keep the defensive barriers down. Once those go up, they’d defend a diet of sh*t sandwiches and the opportunity is lost.

I've read that Millennials were born from 1981 to 1995. Which means the oldest will be 42.

I’m on the cusp of the line. I’m very late Gen X, born between Three Mile Island and the Iranian Hostage Crisis. I went right-wing at about the age of 32. It was a combination of the Chick-fil-a boycott by the left, and finding Free Republic while looking for articles about Chick-fil-a that turned me into a right-winger.
