Counteroffensive Will Trigger ‘Russian Withdrawal’ This Summer, Claims Ukraine Defence Minister

The long-awaited Ukrainian counteroffensive will force a “withdrawal” of Russian forces, Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov claimed in an interview on Tuesday.

Ukraine’s Defence Minister said that the continued objective of his embattled government is to “liberate the occupied territories” including the breakaway Donbas areas of Luhansk and Donetsk, both of which have self-declared to be independent Republics aligned with Moscow, and the Crimean peninsula, which was illegally annexed by Russia in 2014 under the watch of the Obama administration.

It’s politically necessary for Ukraine to announce their intent to retake all seized territory. Imperative.

No matter how far fetched.

From all the Ukrainian press releases, wasn’t this supposed to happen this spring?

This is in the same category as Russia's declaration that formerly occupied provinces of Ukraine are Russian and will forever be Russian.

Posturing before negotiations.

How could Ukraine ever be expected to say anything else?

A socio-athropolocial observation about behaviors here on Free Republic, itself a wonderful site.

The non-NATO nations officially fighting -- Ukraine and Russia -- have their supporters and detractors. I am with those who think our massively-indebted nation should not be expending funds on this, and so am neither a supporter no detractor, per se.

But I find it fascinating that among the avid supporters of Ukraine, in this time, a "speedy" and its set of fans, seems quite a small club, distinct from a "reverend mother" and a different set of fans, while the latest newcomer to the fray, "can't spell latin" pushes a monetized YouTube channel. All in all, this is interesting, in a Free Republic world where there are so many issues of national importance in which these certain nexuses play little or no role. Seems odd to me. But then more than one of them accused me of being a troll, as they troll their respective fan bases.

As a graphic posted in this thread then suggests, it seems a great deal about "mo' money."

Far more interesting that while a real war is raging in Europe, a pile of morons here keep screaming how it’s all about money.

People are fighting and dying in that war and of course money and equipment is needed to sustain A-war the comments about money are absolutely ridiculous and meaningless.

Bunch of 3 year olds who just keep repeating something they heard from each other and they can’t get over it.

When a defense minister makes a prediction about a coming offensive in a war no it’s not all about the money it’s about the war and reality.

We would be in a world of hurt if the foreign policy of the United States of America were ever in the hands of the 2 year olds who branch around here throwing their tantrums while the real world is out there as a constant threat as it always has been.

And before you toddlers start asking if I’m drinking or how old I am and every other childish insult,

Let me remind you that it was Rush Limbaugh who constantly told his audience that this world is governed by the effective use of force.

I take the time to send a real retort, as below.

--- "a real war is raging in Europe"

Actually a real war is raging in a very small part of Europe. Europe is also Germany, the UK, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Romania, Netherlands, Belgium, Czech Republic, Greece, Portugal, Sweden, Hungary, Austria, Serbia, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, Slovakia, Norway, Ireland, Croatia, Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Slovenia, Latvia, Estonia, Montenegro, Luxembourg, Malta, Iceland, Andorra, Monaco, Lichtenstein, San Marino and the papal state, Vatican. So MOST of Europe has no war "raging" in it.

Europe is about 700 million, and the EU portion represents about 450 million. Much larger as a population than the United States and its 335 million. Twice, as a matter of fact. Yet so far the US has spent the largest share of money and materiel, given its relatively small size compared to Europe.

Additionally, as to Europe, one observes that much of Ukraine is to the south of Russia, with Kiev close the to latitude of Russia. A number of reference cites place Russia (and Belarus) in the category of Europe, so this very regional, non-NATO war currently excludes most of the above-mentioned nations of Europe, in terms of an official declaration of war.

--- "a pile of morons here keep screaming how it's all about money." And yet it is you and your who are urging yet more money be spent.

The pile of morons would include Secretary of State Blinken who called supplying LNG to Europe an "opportunity." Of course, he did not "scream" that message.

--- "Rush Limbaugh who constantly told his audience that this world is governed by the effective use of force."

This is indeed true. "Mither" Limbaugh did indeed make that observation. But he did not suggest that the US should govern "this world." That has been Biden with his urge to lead "the liberal world order." Ergo, you are not using Rush's words accurately. I suspect you knew that. You are well aligned with Biden's, though.

-- "...before you toddlers start asking if I'm drinking or how old I am and every other childish insult."

Toddlers. Morons. A bunch of three-year olds. Let me remind you that these insults are your words, as you try to inoculate yourself from insults others might use against you.

” the comments about money are absolutely ridiculous and meaningless.”

Not meaningless to people living in an economy being destroyed on behalf of something that doesn’t matter to the average American. This is especially true when our own nation refuses to spend on dozens of things that have a direct impact on our lives.

What is ridiculous is the childish and emotional (feminine) notion that talking about money is somehow out of place for the most bankrupt nation in all of human history.

If you and DC really think it’s that important, you should have a bond drive and see how many people would deduct from their paycheck to fund this boutique war we caused.

“When a defense minister makes a prediction about a coming offensive in a war no it’s not all about the money it’s about the war and reality.”

And when someone across town with a reputation for fraud and subterfuge against your family is unemployed, broke, and has a neighbor dispute, and a raft of medical problems and they complain that you should contribute. Do you give them some nice guns, your spare car, a new house, and a monthly stipend to help them with their problems? OR, would you say it’s their responsibility and start thinking about the cost?

We know the answer, you would never say it was crass to talk about the money when they had nowhere to live, no food on the table, needed a gun for protection etc... and wanted YOU to pay for it all.

Except world stability, our allies, and keeping our enemies at bay, DOES matter to the average American. To their prosperity, security and their very lives.

I’m sorry that you are so ignorant of the world you think what’s on your own kitchen table will be safe when Europe and Asia are lost to enemies.

It won’t be.

All of the rest of Europe you listed is under increased threat if Russia takes Ukraine.
Certainly Poland, and Putin’s big objective is Germany.
And he has threatened all the rest with nuclear attack.

The world is interconnected.
