It may not be a political winner but it is a moral absolute. Look where going along with what is popular has gotten this country

If you look back to the threads when Trump entered the race for 2016, the transition, especially among Cruz supporters, which I was one of, was messy. No different now. You will get over it, and soon support DeSantis if he joins the race.

Abortion laws should be decided at the state level. The Florida legislature and its governor have made their decision for their state. If Trump has objections, he can always move to another state.
We spent four decades in getting back to the central truth that the Federal Government should not be involved in medical abortion. Florida is a state government — the Legislature there should represent the state, their values and their constituents.
Why is Donald Trump buying back this divisive issue? Stupidly he thinks that he can get liberal voters — he can’t.

Well, not zero. But it sure is dropping. We desperately need MAGA back. And Trump is obviously the most MAGA candidate out there.
But MAGA qualifications mean nothing if you cannot get elected. I live in a swing state. I know many JFK Democrats who voted for Trump in 2016. Most of those folks are now either anti-Trump, or very skeptical of Trump.
Much of this is due to media propaganda. But much of it is also due to Trump’s own careless behavior. For America’s sake, it’s not too late for Trump to course-correct on this. As I mentioned earlier, he needs a senior advisor. But I doubt if that will happen.

In this case, it is best to be silent. The issue is divisive. There are plenty of other problems that need to be solved at the federal level, and for most of them the 10th Amendment applies. Consistency in principle is required.
