Two of Russia's top commanders were killed amid bitter fighting in Ukraine

Two of Russia's top commanders were killed today amid bitter fighting in the east of Ukraine.

The Russian Defence Ministry said Commander Vyacheslav Makarov of the 4th Motorized Rifle Brigade and Deputy Commander Yevgeny Brovko from a separate unit were killed trying to repel Ukrainian attacks.

The battle for Bakhmut has raged for a year as Ukrainian and Russian troops have even had to fight hand-to-hand with bayonets.

It said Makarov had been leading troops from the front line while Brovko 'died heroically, suffering multiple shrapnel wounds'.

The defence ministry rarely announces the deaths of military command in its daily briefings, since a string of senior officers were killed in the early months

Pooot does not care about anyone dying in his dumb war. The only life Poooot cares about is his own. I am pulling for Yevgeny Prigozhin to rid the world of Vlad Pooootin.

How is it that Ukrainian top brass are never killed?

“Huge loss” to the Russians....
To the Daily Mail with regard to “Huge Loss” and what those words mean to the Russians.

“I don’t think those words mean what you think they mean”

More propaganda. Trying to figure out what is actually going on in Ukraine has become an exercise for Sisyphus.

Thank you morally and intellectually corrupt CIA and State Department and media.

Russian Opsec has been terrible from the start.

So I guess the Japanese won. They did, didn’t they? I sometimes forget.

Russia has a top-down command structure and troop morale problems, so their commanders have to deploy near the front line soldiers.

“How is it that Ukrainian top brass are never killed?”

Russian commanders are facing a problem with “combat compliance” that Ukrainian commanders don’t have. Combat compliance is when you have, say, two units coming into a highly defended area from different directions. The idea is to attack simultaneously to split the defense and thus overwhelm them. But Group A hangs back to let Group B, who they likely don’t know and haven’t met, absorb the defensive fire. They report over the radio they are engaged and are giving made-up progress reports. Meanwhile, Group B is doing the same thing. To stop this the Russians have sent very senior commanders to the front lines.

The Ukrainians are defending their homes and have a wide latitude on how to take or hold positions. It isn’t necessary for a senior commander to be on the front lines. (Also, it’s likely Ukraine has better operational security.)

Here’s an interesting video on the subject.

No comparison. We're not in a world war that's been evolving for five years and directly involves entire countries major militaries. But a better WWII comparison would be this one: Like the US in WWII Ruzzziiiaa is not being systematically bombed into oblivion by its enemy but is bombing its enemy into oblivion. In WWII U.S., no mainland wreckage. Germany, its cities burned-out rubble. Guess who won that one?

It is a fact that Youcrayne's grid, cities and towns are being systematically leveled by Ruzzzziiiiaaa. Within six months, more or less, there will be nothing left to salvage and whole cities and towns will need to be leveled and rebuilt from the ground up when the war ends. And that is, in my opinion, the plan - The usual Western cast of scumbags and scumbag corporations, with Blackrock leading the charge, will, once again, make fortunes off of the pain and grief of a war they helped provoke and helped prolong.

What will become of the phony little grifter Zelenskyyyyy when his kleptocracy is ended? If he physically survives, his Western puppet masters will reward him handsomely, then he'll blast off to be the sought-after, high-living guest of some Western nation. Sickening. And that will almost certainly be the case.

Happier days... Obviously!

There's going to be a day when Russian's figure it out... The Ukraine isn't worth all this death. Pretty sure the Russian military men figured that out about 6 months ago, or more. When a war is called 'Putin's War'... There really only one way to end it... End Putin.

Putin is playing chicken. You have to think that Russian public opinion will make an overthrow inevitable. There aren’t many countries that can sustain a military stalemate this long.
It’s depleting Russias military resources, human resources and finances which will drive the economy into the dumper.
I would think Russia would have to have someone financing them, lending money to keep this war going. Probably China. If so whoever it is they will own Russia.

End Putin is right. Putin, the Imperialist Tsar, is super invested in his war on Ukraine. Prigozhin has zero investment, so if he can get into power, to replace Putin, he can make peace with Ukraine. Remember that Prigo has his own battle seasoned Private Army, to smash the Kremlin and seize power.

Too bad there is only state controlled media in Russia. Otherwise, Prigozhin would be vastly more popular than Vlad.
