—”They, like many immigrants of that era, wanted to assimilate into this new American life and “be more American”

A Chinese guy named Hans Wolfeschlegelstein asked what kind of name that was?
Explained, in the immigration line, he told them his real name; SAM THING.

Be careful who you stand near.
And use extreme caution in any contact with government employees.

Do it! I live right over the hill from it.
All the tour people, I’m pretty sure are locals.
Our last tour lady was classic Pottsville. What a hoot of a good time!
She made our morning!!
On any given day, you can see the owner walking around and helping wherever he’s needed in the plant!
His 3 daughters are a big part of the operation now as I understand it!
A true American brewery!

GET SUM”!!!!!!

Yuengling’s owner endorsed Trump in 2016, and the company was boycotted then (per Wikipedia).

As a side note, I remember that section of PA as small town USA.

Didn’t they have the same RWB cans last year?

And LAGER is not a lite beer.

Cream Ale! Haven’t had a Genny in decades, once in a great while I’ll see here in TX a six pack sitting In the cooler at the liquor store. Next time it will have to come home with me.

I always think Chinese. Remembering it’s the oldest beer company in the US, German name, takes a while.

I guess I should buy some. Maybe that will imprint it on me.

I think of it as a thank you note to customers who already made it happen by rejecting Bud Light.

And now Budweiser had been downgraded.

https://nypost.com/2023/05/10/anheuser-busch-stock-downgraded-over-bud-light-crisis/

“The stock of Bud Light parent company Anheuser-Busch has been downgraded by analysts at HSBC who say the brand is in the midst of a “crisis” following the outcry over its ties to transgender social media influencer Dylan Mulvaney.

Carlos Laboy, a managing director at HSBC’s global beverage sector, downgraded the stock of Anheuser-Busch InBev to a hold status — meaning that investors should neither buy or sell shares of the company.”

Wow!   When they downgrade your stock, that is as series as a beeber that can detect radiation!

I never knew anyone thought Yuengling was a Chinese name/brand. The name always sounded German to me. Maybe because I lived in the same state where this brand started. Many Germans settled there. But, now that others have pointed it out, I can see why the name might look differently to them.

As I posted somewhere above, the owner of Yuengling was a Trump supporter. He went against the unions, too. Both times, his company was threatened with boycotts.
