Oregon Secretary of State Shemia Fagan will resign next week. Fagan plans to resign on May 8 due to a political scandal.

Fagan has received criticism for her decision to take a $10,000-per-month side job as a cannabis consultant. The contract came from the owners of a cannabis chain that her office was responsible for auditing, according to Oregon Public Broadcasting.

Deputy Secretary of State Cheryl Myers will take over the post until Governor Tina Kotek appoints a successor.

Initially, Fagan tried to justify the role. However, she backed down in the face of increased scrutiny and apologized on Monday.

Ten thousand a month as a "cannabis consultant". This payment from a business that she is in charge of over-seeing! Wow, that's not even trying to hide the corruption.

She’s decided that’s enough damage to the public, so like a typical Oregon politician decided it’s time to retire and smoke weed all day.

Does she get to keep her “consultant” job?

“Does she get to keep her “consultant” job?”

You bet she is sweating this out. Weed Growers and shops aren’t doing to good from what I read. 120k a year isn’t chump
change. If she loses that consulting gig just further evidence she was involved in a pay to play operating.

A friend of mine from college opened up a pot shop in Seattle when it went legal. Closed down within a year because with overhead and taxes, just couldn’t compete with weed on the street. It was literally 1/2 to 1/3 what she had to charge to turn a profit.

Of course not, why keep the criminal on the payroll, she has zero value to the La Mota group now. The La Mota group owes tons of monies to creditors and to the state of Oregon, Fagan was the check valve La Mota needed to continue business under their flawed business model.

This is typical Oregon government corruption, look at the links, https://www.wweek.com/news/2023/05/02/oregon-secretary-of-state-shemia-fagan-resigns/ https://www.oregonlive.com/politics/2015/02/gov_john_kitzhaber_resigns_ami.html

I believe the fix is in on this one too. Governor Kotex,(sic), assigned an agency that has no enforcement authority to “investigate” this corruption. Nothing other than loss of state employment will happen to the criminal Fagan.

No this is like when Hillary lost the election, all those donors and governments demanded their money back from the Clinton foundation.

This is the SOS who refuses to remove any “voters” from the state voter rolls.

Sorta like Arizona’s former Secretary of State, Katie Hobbs, overseeing the governor’s election that she “won.”

Oregon is a corrupt state run by Demsheviks because of mail in voting for more than 20 years. Rotten to the core.
