But Trump’s actions in 2012 appeared to be in contrast to weekend statements when he overruled the rejection of Jenna Talackova, a transgender beauty queen who entered the Miss Universe Canada competition.
Talackova, then 23, was originally denied because she was not born a biological female, according to a past report.
She and her lawyer at the time, Gloria Allred, called on the Miss Universe organization to nix the rule that mandated contestants be “naturally born” females.
But by then, pageant organizers already reversed course, allowing Talackova to compete at the behest of Trump, who was president and owner of the Miss Universe pageant

Trump probably just wanted to seem “tolerant” to his queer friends in NYC social circles.
If we learn by experience then Trump has learned by experience.
It means nothing... Twenty years ago, queers were just mentally ill people to me, and I gave it no more thought than that.
Some freepers do not like Trump.
Many here are supportive of Trump, and look at his record as president with approval. They look at his record as president, and not so much as what he did years ago with a beauty pageant.

He’s always allowed himself to be influenced by the personal stories of individuals trying to bear up under personal hardship, or facing apparent injustice. He hates unfairness.
My thought too. 10 years ago l saw trannys as a fringe group of people with severe mental problems. That was before they started mutilating children and grooming.
He advanced their sick agenda, whether that was his goal or not.

Speculation is a easy tool without facts the MYP has a huge case of TDS they prove almost every day.
A lot of us like his policies and loath the person.
Only what can be measured matters when it comes to the economy and nothing matters more than the economy, and by any metric the Trump economy was a good one. While I would never hire someone who ever used bankruptcy or had a divorce, or committed adultery, my 401K and my real estate investments did quite well, so I’d vote (or ‘re-hire’) him.
It’s the economy; everything else is just prejudices and details.
Sounds like the whimper of the DeSantis crowd trying to fight back.
Are you perhaps re-writing history, based on subsequent developments in society?
Meaning, did such an agenda really exist at that time, or was this more of a one-person thing on the part of the trans contestant, with a response on Trump’s part that simply reflected his characteristic empathy?
DeSantis is crashing and burning and this is the best you can come up with — what a proven president said decades ago ?
