Magnus Hirschfeld, a German physician who could easily be considered the father of transgender health care, coined the term “transvestite” in 1918 at his Institute for Sexual Science in Berlin. Defining transvestism as the desire to express one’s gender in opposition to their defined sex, Hirschfeld and his colleagues used this now antiquated label as a gateway to the provision of sex changing therapies and as a means to protect his patients. Going against the grain, Hirschfeld was one of the first to offer his patients the means to achieve sex change, either through hormone therapy, sex change operations, or both.
World War II and Nazi Germany forced Hirschfeld into exile and this along with the destruction of his Berlin institute, minimal further advancements were made by his group at that time. Pioneering influences in America began emerging in the 1940s, including Dr. Alfred Kinsey, the biologist who founded the Institute for Sex Research at Indiana University in 1947 (now known as the Kinsey Institute). Kinsey was one of the first to use the term transsexual in his gender studies, and he helped introduce America to a concept that for some reason still seems foreign to many today despite its obvious place in history for years.

The phrase “women’s health care translates to “Kill the baby”. Transgender health care translates to “cut off or modify perfectly good body parts to create a simulation of the sex other than the one to which they were born”.

Oh here we go - now there’s a “history.” Soon they’ll be co-opting historical figures, like the fagoids like to do with Lincoln.
Then a trans-history month and Google Doodle on a Christian holiday.
Sane scientists need to stop calling it “hormone replacement therapy.” It isn’t replacing anything. It is COMBATING the natural order of a bodies existing hormones, physiology and organs.
More simply, it translates to "physical mutilation."
SA used to be a respected fact based scientific journal then the leftist a-holes infection it and now it’s gone too.
Kinsey the man who liked little boys
Worth repeating.
“defined sex”.....BEWARE of the duplicitous left using euphemistic inexact language to define the foundations of their argument.
It’s BIOLOGICAL SEX that determines the “definition” of ones gender. Predetermined at conception and inherent the very DNA of each and every cell of the body. PERIOD!
The scientific american is not the same magazine that it was when I used to subscribe. It’s now 100% leftist, woke and insane. I would not waste my money or time on it.
Actually, gender is a grammatical term that people used for humans so they wouldn’t have to use the word sex. Then it was taken over... so it is not that one’s sex determines one’s gender: it’s that either gender is not a thing or that gender and sex are the same thing.
When you read about “Nazi book burning”, it’s the transgender institute records and books they are talking about.

New terms get around so fast! This is only the second time I have seen it used this way and the first time was only a couple of days ago.
I guess saying to a TG person “I am giving you cross-sex hormones” is a trigger. For the TG it must be hormone “replacement” since “transwomen are women.”
So I agree, let’s all stick to cross-sex hormones!
You completely missed the point.
It has been gone for 25+ years.
You are the ONLY one to actually point that out in all the years I’ve seen hysterical articles about burning books.
6 MAY 1933: LOOTING OF THE INSTITUTE OF SEXOLOGY

Jewish, gay and outspokenly liberal, Hirschfeld was an obvious target for the Nazis, and the seizure and destruction of the institute on 6 May took place only three months after Hitler was made Chancellor of Germany. During the attack and subsequent book burning, Hirschfeld was working in Paris. He saw the burning of his own library in a news report at the cinema. Among the texts thrown onto the bonfire at the Bebelplatz was Heinrich Heine’s Almansor, in which the author noted:
No such thing as “transgender”.
Oh, dear... sometimes I do that!
That’s been quite a number of years as I recall.
