A Russian Sukhoi-34 fighter-jet has accidentally bombed the Russian city of Belgorod, around 40km (25 miles) from the border with Ukraine.
The bomb left a 20m (60ft) crater and caused an explosion so large it blew a car on to the roof of a nearby shop.
Regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said authorities had ordered the evacuation of a damaged nine-storey block of flats as a precaution.
Three people were injured and several buildings were damaged, he said.
Video posted on social media showed the impact of the blast, lifting a vehicle on to the roof of a supermarket as traffic streamed along Prospekt Vatutina, close to the centre of the city.
In a brief statement, the Russian defence ministry admitted that one of its Su-34 fighter bombers had "accidentally discharged aircraft ordnance" at 22:15 local time (19:15 GMT) on Thursday.
It was a bureaucratic way of saying that the jet had mistakenly fired a weapon. It didn't specify which one.
The bomb landed at an intersection of two roads not far from the city centre and next to residential buildings. ... CCTV footage of the incident suggests that local residents did, indeed, have a lucky escape.
The video shows a series of cars passing a crossroads, before an object lands on the ground nearby.
There is no immediate explosion. The ordnance detonates approximately 18 seconds later, blowing up a section of the road, catching one of the cars as it passes and sending a parked car flying into the air before it lands on the supermarket roof.

No joke...about 20 years ago now the New Jersey Air Guard actually bombed a school near Ft Dix.
I don’t know enough about bombs to say something definitive, but it seemed to me that the bomb itself didn’t detonate. It just fell from a plane and caused a gas explosion.
Of course since I don’t know I might be wrong and the article might be right, but the explosion seemed too small for a 1500kg bomb.

1500kg bomb on a delayed fuse detonating under the city street provides a lot of oomph, but in a confined area.
Just one man’s opinion, of course.
... but what were the Russians hoping to achieve with it. They had high hopes for this huge bomb when they still thought they were going to drop it on Ukraine and were bragging about it.
Then ... when they accidentally bombed themselves, it wasn’t that impressive.
There is a joke about it. Russians claim that Ukrainians are just Russians (but they are in denial) so why bother flying over a dangerous area to bomb them when we can bomb Russians in Russia, who are the same?

This has happened quite a few times. Usually it’s Russia’s garbage S-300 missiles failing and returning to sender. Russia has converted a lot air defense missiles for their terror bombing campaign against Ukrainian women and children. They work great blowing up apartment buildings in the typical Russian Nazi manner.

With all this daily good news about the Russkis always bombing themselves and blowing up their own planes, helicopters and tanks, what the hell is Jo Jo’s little butt boy, Zelenskyyyyyy always mooching more money for? What the hell is the boy spending it on? Sending Ukies on Dizney cruises?
