since Russia invaded Ukraine in early 2022, the Russian defense industry is struggling to resupply Moscow’s own forces at the front, which have drawn down weapons and ammunition stocks at a remarkable rate. Therefore, Russia will almost certainly not be able to satisfy many export demands for the rest of the decade—with profound implications for the country’s most important arms customer, India.
...Before the war, India was already working to diversify arms suppliers, including a shift to greater domestic production.
...New Delhi has faced delays on the delivery of key equipment, spare parts, and ammunition from Russia, along with payment issues..
This has included delays to the delivery of the five S-400 surface-to-air missile systems India had ordered from Russia for $5.4 billion in 2018, with New Delhi still awaiting delivery of the last two regiments. The delivery of all five regiments—normally comprising up to 16 launchers each—is now expected to be completed by early 2024, one year later than planned. Additionally, the return of one of India’s Kilo class diesel-electric submarines from refitting in Russia has been delayed.
New Delhi, on its own initiative, has also delayed, suspended, or canceled plans to procure additional equipment from Russia. This includes plans to procure 48 additional Mi-17V-5 medium-lift helicopters, for which India will now focus on its domestic Multi-Role Helicopter program instead; indefinitely suspended negotiations with Moscow for the acquisition of 10 Ka-31 early-warning helicopters due to payment issues and concerns over Russia’s ability to deliver.
U.S. companies have been the major beneficiaries of India’s diversification efforts, with more than $15 billion worth of contracts signed for transport aircraft, anti-submarine warfare aircraft, attack helicopters, and howitzers. French, Israeli, South Korean, and Spanish firms have also won significant contracts during this time

How many versions of this dumbsht are you planning on posting today?
Too bad the Indians can’t buy American munitions today. After pi$$ing away all those billions in weaponry on the Uke quagmire, we couldn’t even defend ourselves if push comes to shove. In a conventional war with the lowly NORKS we would be up crap creek.

Before the Russian invasion, the West was getting stagnant and complacent about weapons manufacturing and replacing old stock, which was disturbing as the China threat grew, the invasion has been good for the West’s defensive readiness and military growth and unity.
Firstly, it ain’t dumb - it’s about India pivoting away its sales from Russia
And secondly, this is the first and only article about Indian weapon purchases I’ve posted today.
Are you having problems with your eyesight? I could recommend an ophthalmologist if you wish
What’s dumb about it?
It’s been a recurring issue from the Indian side for years.
is that a bull?
India has been buying US weapon systems and components.
We need another world war. You know, one where we’re relatively unscathed and the rest of the world ends up rebuilding with our exports.
Japan and Germany learned to be peaceful. Who’s next?
How many stingers do you think are available to sell to the Indians?
If you want a major US export success consider the F-35.
Foreign deliveries or orders are over 1000 by now.
And with the Russia-China problems it’s expanding.
India needs to slit or get off the pot.
There in the Quad, but can we trust them? Why do they continue to use Russia as their primary arms dealer, if they want to be part of thel West?
If something pops with China, there is no way they can trust Russia, as Russia is a total Cuck to China now.
Stingers are obsolete.
Current versions of Igla are better. The US is buying the Polish Piorun version. India is supposed to begin making their own Igla variant AFAIK.
If India gets into a war with China its going to have to fight with what its got. Russia can’t handle resupply for a war of that scale. The Indian complaints were about Russian inability to deliver on orders in the first place.
No, what India needs is domestic manufacture. Only that could scale to Indias massive requirements.
Luckily for India geography and the USN will keep most of the Chinese threat away.
Lucy Putin keeps pulling that football away on poor Charlie Baktha
Yes, they do make a nice Brahmos Missile. But my point is they have to convert to a pro West and domestic defense industry, because Russia can’t supply and if China pulls the plug and goes after the Border, you can bet Russia will do as told.
So, yes, 1)Russia is unreliable as a weapons producer and 2) Russia is beholden to China if the SHTF.
Tell that to the Russians.
We need to set off a couple bombs just on the Russian side of the Chinese border.
You’d think the CIA would be conniving in such a way rather than spending all of their time trying to come up with new methods to try to entrap Trump.
