Trump’s next court date pushes up against 2024 primaries
The Hill ^ | 04/04/2023 | BRETT SAMUELS

The judge overseeing former President Donald Trump’s criminal case in New York City has set the next in-person hearing for Dec. 4, roughly two months before the official start of the 2024 Republican presidential primary calendar.

Trump was arraigned in Manhattan in front of Judge Juan Merchan on Tuesday, where he was charged with 34 felony counts related to hush money payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election. Trump pleaded not guilty to the charges.

At the December in-person court appearance, Merchan will decide on expected motions to dismiss the case.

The Iowa Republican caucuses will be held on Feb. 5, marking the start of the GOP primary season. That underscores how Trump’s legal troubles could shadow him into the period when voters are picking a candidate to nominate for president.

As of 2017, there was no underlying act of Trump that needed to be concealed from anybody except his wife.

I haven’t read it.

Of course it does.

These bastards won’t feel a bit of pain for interfering in the most important election in the country.

But poor Douglass Mackey was convicted by a federal jury in Brooklyn of the charge of Conspiracy Against Rights stemming from his meme jokes. He will probably get 20 years for his jokes.

Absolutely, trying to mess with the election, as we all knew from the beginning. That December hearing date is going to make this year melt away quickly, like beeswax candle, or a long quiet fuse.

Weak case, frivolous in fact. Only purpose to screw up his election - any rational judge would throw this out next month.

Trying to screw with the election

Which is what happens in banana republics all the time. Commandante Y puts Commandante X's staff in prison and then tries him in a kangaroo court.

IF the gag actually happens (was reported as yes it will and then as no it won't on this site today) then isn't that silencing the opposition candidate's campaigning for office?

Odd I would remember this but a college town crank used to stand up on a concrete bench and give his views all day as students walked by. He ran for city council and was on the ballot. On the day before election day the cops seized him by the arms and put him in jail for some sort of violation. He rightly said it was to stop him from campaigning. He lost.

That’s the whole idea. This will continue through next years election.. and Biden’s election year ads will feature his ‘felon’ opponent.

The judge overseeing former President Donald Trump’s criminal case in New York City has set the next in-person hearing for *Dec. 4*, roughly two months before the official start of the 2024 Republican presidential primary calendar. Why can’t he do it ASAP? Why the 8 month delay?

So, Trump will have to INTERRUPT his campaign in order to go to court. The judge will probably slap a gag order prohibiting him from talking about the case outside the courts. See how sneaky the Democrats are? They will throw every legal maneuver at Trump to derail his campaign.

Don’t believe Bragg can make it that far many step can be taken before then he may have a hot potato in his hands.

Exactly, I called this a while back. That this was the REAL reason for this case. They know it’s weak, but they want to be able to beat the “TRUMP IS UNDER ARREST!” crap on the MSM during the primaries and whatnot.
