Russia has taken tanks from the 1940s out of storage, according to new images from a monitoring group, as it continues to lose large numbers of tanks in Ukraine.

The Conflict Intelligence Team, a group that monitors Russia's military, shared images of the antique tanks on a train.

It said that the images show T-54 tanks, which the Soviet Union started producing in 1947, moving west from the far east of Russia.

While other old tanks have been used by Russia in Ukraine, none have been as old as the T-54, the group said.

A steampunk’s rolling iron dream!

But as useful in war as a sub with screen doors.

Wondered which way it was supposed to go forward?

The obvious way would restrict it main guns.
When making it a easy target for every gun on the front.

No wonder the Romanovs met their end in a cellar with military genius like this.

I assumed a tail dragger for after the main wheels went over the trench.

Should have some awesome nastiness on the bottom for hanging over the trench.

It might have a trap door underneath so a machine gunner could spray the trench it crossed
It’s been a while since I first read about the czar tank but the thing was underpowered and prone to breaking down. Got stuck in a marsh and there it stayed. Evidently somebody pulled it out and put it on display.
