Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) issued a scathing rebuke Monday of President Joe Biden’s administration after it approved a scaled-down version of an oil drilling project in a petroleum-rich region of northern Alaska.
Markey, a climate hawk and cosponsor of the failed Green New Deal, called the administration’s approval of ConocoPhillips’ Willow Project, a multibillion-dollar oil drilling endeavor in the federal North Petroleum Reserve in Alaska, a “disastrous decision.”

Cascadia Margin Methane Seeps
An unknown amount of methane is fluxing through continental margins, and up to ~5000 gigatons of carbon are stored in icy methane hydrate deposits within their sediment. Sources of this methane include biogenic production, disassociation of the methane hydrate layers, and deep thermogenic sources.
What I hate about this Alaska deal is that only 1 business gets to participate. I’d rather undo Brandon’s early EO’s that made it harder for most companies to drill in many places. This deal is nothing but crony capitalism.

Used wood burning stove to cook on and heat the house, oil lamps for light after dark and melted snow for washing and toilet flushing.
Won’t be doing that again; this Spring I will be installing a 500 gal propane tank and a Generac Guardian 26kW standby generator.
I probably could do without, but the wife needs a CPAP machine to breath properly at night and the barn and chicken coop get awful cold for the livestock when power is out.
