Archrivals Iran and Saudi Arabia agreed Friday to restore diplomatic relations, a dramatic breakthrough brokered by China after years of soaring tensions between the Middle Eastern powerhouses.

The deal, which will see the two leading oil producers reopen embassies in each other’s capitals, was sealed during a meeting in Beijing — a boost to China's efforts to rival the United States as a broker on the global stage.

The agreement could put a damper on Israel's ongoing work to normalize relations with its Arab neighbors, and complicate U.S. and other Western powers' bid to contain Iran's nuclear ambitions.

The Saudi-Iran talks were held because of a “shared desire to resolve the disagreements between them through dialogue and diplomacy, and in light of their brotherly ties,” according to a joint communique from Tehran, Riyadh and Beijing that was published by the official Saudi Press Agency.

The agreement followed intensive negotiations between Ali Shamkhani, a close adviser to Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khameni, and Saudi Minister of State Musaad bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, according to the statement.

This is a big deal actually.....World news over there is basically clapping for China ‘s ability to bring the two together. It’s more about China’s hand in it then the two coming together.

Did SA have a choice with the potato in office. SA has to have stability and that is not with the USA anymore. I think SA will go shopping in Pakistan or already has.

Admittedly, I am not a biblical scholar, isn’t there some thought that the antichrist will come from the east and unite the world against Christians and jews. Isn’t Xi Jinping from the East and is potentially uniting Shiite and Sunni versions of Islam ??

Say goodbye to the petrodollar and hello to the eventual elimination of the dollar as the world’s reserve currency. This agreement is a disaster for America and Israel. Biden wants to make SA a pariah. Instead, he is isolating the US.

Joe Bidet has done more to divide America while uniting our enemies (Russia/China/Iran/now Saudi Arabia) than any pResident in American history.

“..Biden wants to make SA a pariah...”

Biden is turning the USA into a pariah in the eyes of much of the world.

Of course you’re right....just a matter of time.

Obama screwed things up with the Sauds and it’s been downhill except when Trump took over....the as soon as Biden took office it went down hill again of course. The Sauds know perfectly well Obama and Biden are no friends to them.

There’s very little that side of the world cares what Biden and his aministration thinks....they’re all moving on their own agendas now. US is an after-thought to appease just enough to keep the revenue flows flowing.

‘After the CIA concluded that the powerful Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ordered the October 2018 slaying and dismembering of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi’

Calling Jamal Khashoggi a “Washington Post columnist” is a giant half truth amounting to a lie, and it is meant to add “western” stature, undeservedly, to Khashooggi.

Khashoggi was a “journalistic” stooge for the Muslim Brotherhood who happened to get his works printed in various western and MOSTLY non-western publications, and yes including the Washington Post. He was in exile from Saudi Arabia for a good reason. Saudi Arabia understood Khashoggi’s Muslim Brotherhood connections and Saudi Arabia’s rulers see the Muslim Brotherhood as an existential threat.

I say that not to approve Khashoggi’s murder, but to give notice that as a Muslim Brotherhood stooge he was working NOT in western interests, and to paint him as a friend of western societies is giant error.
