New York City is planning to compensate protesters from a 2020 demonstration following George Floyd's death with $21,500 each in a new settlement.
In the proposed settlement, the city has agreed to pay $21,500 to each member of the class-action suit, plus an additional $2,500 to those who were issued "Desk Appearance Tickets."
If it is approved by a judge, the settlement could amount to an estimated $4 million to $6 million. There were reportedly around 300 people in attendance at the protest, and roughly 90 have already settled with the city regarding alternative complaints.
The class-action suit participants alleged "violations of their rights under the First, Fourth and Fourteenth Amendments" stemming from a June 4, 2020, protest, when police allegedly boxed demonstrators in.
The settlement could end up being one of the largest of its kinds if approved.

Democrat cities dole out a lot of millions to left causes, left individuals, and left organizations, we frequently see some minor thing reward a petty criminal with many millions of dollars and we wonder if the city really puts its heart into fighting some of these cases when the other side, isn’t really the other side, it almost seems as though the tax dollars merely pass through their hands for yet another form of dispersal.
The best way to ensure future civil society is to pay mostly peaceful protesters for their participation in mostly peaceful protests.

But NYC is pleading poverty and so working under the table to screw over NYC public service retirees from having the healthcare they were guaranteed by the city code. They want to force city retirees to accept the vastly inferior Medicare Advantage plan offered by Aetna, who’s under investigation by the DOJ for fraud. Somehow, NYC ALWAYS has money to lavish on illegals and now, this insane reparation money. It’s just money thrown down the toilet. But when it comes to people who spent decades serving the city, THEY have to be screwed over.
The should be enough for a set of big car wheels, or a gold “toof”.
