SNL Paints Grateful East Palestine Residents as Repulsed by Trump Visit
Breitbart ^ | 26 Feb 2023 | Alana Mastrangelo

Saturday Night Live “Weekend Update” host Colin Jost mocked former President Donald Trump’s recent visit to East Palestine, Ohio, by fantasizing that the town’s grateful residents were actually repulsed by his visit.

During this weekend’s episode, Jost joked that East Palestine residents would rather drink their town’s contaminated water than the bottled water Trump brought them.

“Donald Trump visited East Palestine, the site of the recent train derailment, because Trump usually likes to try to make himself look better by standing next to a train wreck,” Jost quipped.

“While visiting the disaster site, Trump also gave out bottles of Trump-branded water,” he continued, with a punchline that residents said: “Thanks, but we would rather drink the toxic train water” contaminated with vinyl chloride.

While Jost makes light of the train disaster that spilled toxic chemicals into the environment, this reporter spoke with residents of East Palestine who expressed gratitude for the truckloads of water Trump delivered to the town, where many people are worried about the water quality as a result of the recent train derailment.

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden has yet to step foot in the small Ohio town after the train disaster left residents in disarray and seeking answers.

“I sincerely hope that when your representatives and all of the politicians get here — including Biden — they get back from touring Ukraine, that he’s got some money left over,” Trump said Wednesday, while visiting East Palestine.

After buying food for everyone in an East Palestine McDonald’s — including the entire fire department police department — Trump told Breitbart News that Biden should have already visited the town, but “chose to go a different route,” referring to Biden’s recent trip to Ukraine.

Once upon a time, long, long ago, SNL was a comedy show. Now they are just another hard left propaganda outlet. Like all the rest.

SNL couldn’t even be funny by accident anymore.

Once upon a time the media mostly kept it's politics to the editorial pages, now their leftist bias seeps in to every story and every angle.

SNL has not been funny, even if they tried to make fun of themselves in self-awareness (what? no, they didnt do that ever)— and cannot grasp that there has to be some truth in humor for it to be real comedy. SNL is a waste of bandwidth and all the money the network spends on the show. One look at the ad revenue tells you they think they are reaching.

Morons.

As a reader of National Lampoon, I was excited when SNL poached NatLamp’s talent, but as hard I tried, I found few moments of truly funny comedy, even back at the beginning.

This see this as a win.

Not only do they confirm their humorlessness the by indirection point out the failure of the current regime.

There is not a joke to be made if Biden and his boy wonder transportation secretary were competent.

Incredible. If SNL was actually interested in doing comedy, they would be mining the extensive source material provided to them by Biden. Biden is a gift to any comedian who’s interested. The jokes practically write themselves. But SNL can’t find anything funny to say about Biden. They’re too busy making bad, unfunny jokes about Trump.

Lauren Michaels is the biggest hypocrite for not going after Biden.

I have not watched SNL in decades...but my wife watches it. I walked by the television, and there was some very obese, unattractive woman (I thought perhaps a tranny) playing a guitar and screaming something.

Looked like this except she/he had a microphone and a guitar:

It was so weird that I stopped in my tracks to stare at the apparition on the television screen. I tried to find out who the heck that was by searching the Internet, no luck.

I do remember funny moments, but a lot of the show’s appeal came from the fact that they were different from everything else on TV. People were laughing at things that they didn’t expect to see on television. That kind of appeal doesn’t last. The rest of the culture catches up. Plus, SNL repeats itself and has lost its satirical edge.

Jimmy Kimbel and SNL must have gotten their funny bone repair
kit from the same Acme supplier.

I haven’t watched SNL since 1981 and I’ve never watched Jimmy Kimmel.

I did watch Norm on SNL — YouTube videos.

Jimmy was a very creative guy in his early days in this slot.

He had a non-descript side-kick name Giermo (I believe it was),
and the small things they did were quite funny. I considered
Jimmy to be the best of the late night guys, because he had
his pulse on what was funny and what wasn’t.

He would come up with some off the beaten path thing, and
it was nearly always funny. He would toss stuff out the
window onto the street down below. I used to enjoy that
sort of thing. It was the kind of thing some guys drinking
would think up and do, just for the idiocy of it.

He has just flat destroyed himself.

I wouldn’t watch his show anymore on a dare.
