America is bracing for a mass exodus of retail stores across the nation this year, with more than 800 big box locations set to close from California to New York.
Among the iconic names to announce they are downsizing includes Bed Bath & Beyond, Walmart, Gap and Party City.
At least 803 stores are set to be shuttered over the rest of 2023, with many forced into desperate cost cutting measures amid rampant inflation and declining bottom lines.

Best Buy....Amazon’s showroom.
Way to go Brandon.
It is also that the big box businesses have mastered on-time delivery to people’s homes. So they don’t need as many stores. They can keep a few district warehouses and function just fine.
Congratulations FJB. A bunch of this is YOUR fault. Not that you know or care.
Out of control shoplifting with no consequences when you get caught, is taking its toll on retailers. I don’t blame them. The new “Americans” are some thieving SOBS.
BINGO!
I’m having a bit of a laugh. Big box stores killed little mom and pop stores.
Brought to you by a cooperation between democrats and teens
When I was young there were not so many big box stores. Somehow we could get by ordering from Sears and Monky Wards. I’m sure we will be fine with Internet ordering many of our goods.
As much as I despise Brandon, this doesn’t really have anything to do with him.
I don’t even remember the last time I went to a big box store.
“The new “Americans” are some thieving SOBS.”
That is strange. From what all the bleeding hearts say, they only come here for increased opportunities to keep the Ten Commandments. Didn’t Nikki Haley say that immigrants, like her, are more patriotic than native born Americans?
Biden and the Dims and the enviro loons want to shrink the Nation’s economy. If everything cost more, there will be fewer purchases. The common denominator is the partial shutdown of the oil and natural gas industries. Higher energy costs make every part of the economy more expensive.
We have a Walmart 10 Mi away and I do go there occasionally 0800.
I’m very accustomed to going there during hours when it’s not a complete zoo which usually means before the moms drop off the kids at the public schools... you know the kids who don’t want to take the bus so there’s a traffic jam by every Public School in the county at dropoff and pickup hours.
I know this because at Walmart you can see the pace pick up right around 9am, at around 10:00 is when the assisted care buses starts showing up to drop off folks to pick up a few items and they usually grab a snack at the on-site Subway franchise.
I’m quick I’m usually out of there by 9:00, not my favorite activity but the prices of my grocery items are the best at Walmart and the other grocery stores are further away.
During Christmas I don’t go near the place and right before other holidays I’m not there either.
I can’t imagine going to a party Big Box store that’s insane.
Not Party City! 😮
Yes. But they actually started monetizing that in a big way. They started charging companies for big branded display sections. Was pretty smart.
“Not Party City!”
I know! At Party City I could always find the items for whatever themed party my grandchildren wanted for their birthday.
Best Buy is not what it used to be. Online shopping is killing the competition.
I remember loving to go to Fry’s, the last time I went was about 5 years ago, and it was totally depressing.
What about Spatula City?
