PALIN on 2024 race: DeSantis should ‘stay governor’
The Hill ^ | 02/15/23 1:20 PM ET | BY JULIA SHAPERO

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) said on Tuesday that she thinks Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) should “stay governor” for the time being, as he continues to attract speculation about a potential 2024 presidential bid.

“DeSantis doesn’t need to [run],” Palin said in an interview with Newsmax. “I envision him as our president someday but not right now.

“He should stay governor for a bit longer,” she added. “He’s young, you know. He has decades ahead of him where he can be our president.”

Although DeSantis has yet to announce a 2024 presidential bid, he is widely viewed as former President Trump’s biggest competition for the Republican nomination.

A recent poll from Monmouth University showed Trump and DeSantis tied as the leading choice among Republican voters for their party’s nominee.

However, Palin appeared confident in Trump’s 2024 prospects on Tuesday.

“I’m all about healthy, competitive primaries,” Palin said. “That makes everybody debate more articulately and work harder and let the people know what [their] records are and visions for this country are. And so, I love healthy debate and competitive primaries.”

“But when you talk about the specific people, the individual people who are looking at putting their hat in the ring … they got a lot of guts thinking they’re gonna go up against Trump,” she continued.

I wish him and Trump would work together. Give Trump his one more term and he takes VP. Then in 2028, he’d be a show-in for President.

That’s all you folks have been threatening to do for months, in print. Do you think flipping the narrative will make folks forget what ya’ll have said?
Not one DeSantis person has claimed they will not vote for the R, no matter who it is.
The dishonesty, hypocrisy and projection is getting thick.

Who asked her the question?
The era where, if Sarah Palin spoke, everybody else hushed up, like that old E.F. Hutton commercial, unofficially ended back in October of 2010, when, after a months long fan dance, Sarah decided not to run for the presidential nomination.

Sarah should have heeded her own advice and finished her term.

Indeed. She killed her political career by that stunt.

When Sarah decided not to run for President, that ended my interest in her opinions. Even if she endorsed my guy Ron, it would mean little to me and other voters.

Palin has not been a relevant voice in politics since the 1st Obama Regime. She is some 15 years past her expiration date.

And this ignorant comment proves that.

And just who asked or cares about her opinion? I sure didn’t and would prefer at this point that she focuses her time on her family.

Sarah Palin made Donald trump the 2015 front runner.

I envisioned him as our president in 2028 but definitely not now.

I agree with Sarah. DeSantas needs to support Trump for 2024 and then Trump can support him in 2028. However, If there is a 2024 election and Trump gets cheated again and a democrat gets installed in to the WH again, it’s more than likely that we may not have a viable country by then. Just my opinion.
