Republican Rubio tweeted: 'The last 72 hours revealed to the public what was happening for years, unidentified aircraft routinely operating over restricted US airspace.
'This is why I pushed to take this seriously and created a permanent UAP (unidentified aerial phenomena - equivalent to UFOs) task force two years ago.'
Rubio is the Vice Chairman of the US Senate's Select Committee on Intelligence and has long pushed for a 'destigmatization' on UFO reporting.

The object detected Sunday was described by defense officials as an unmanned 'octagonal structure' with 'potential surveillance capabilities' and strings attached to it.

VanHerck said that, unlike the Chinese spy balloon, all three UFOs gunned down over the weekend were of a similar size and speed.
He added that the since the Chinese balloon was found in late January, the US adjusted its radar so it could track slower objects. He explained that this radar adjustment, plus the heightened state of alert following the Chinese balloon, explains the frequency of UFO sightings.
'With some adjustments, we've been able to get a better categorization of radar tracks now,' he said, 'and that's why I think you're seeing these, plus there's a heightened alert to look for this information.'
VanMerck said the air force is still unsure how the three objects were staying aloft, as they currently have unknown propulsion systems. He added: 'We're calling them objects, not balloons, for a reason.'

Yes, they are putting on a show to deflect dumbasses into not paying attention to what they are really doing. This shows how successful the communists have been dumbing our citizens down, just like Nikita Khrushchev promised.

Here’s my problem with deflection or distraction theories. “They” don’t need defections or distractions. Most of what they’ve done that’s been either totally criminal or worse, everyone knows about. Consequences? None.
This has been publicly reported several times in the past two years... it isn’t new. No one says they are alien, just saying that they are prevalent and we haven’t publicly announced where we think they are from.
But even if some beings did travel across space to get here, they would probably use some atmosphere-friendly vehicles to explore the planet instead of the mothership that they used to traverse the vast expanses of space.
Flying around the world in your mothership would be like using your SUV to caddy you around 18 holes at your local golf club.;-) Illogical.
Perhaps these aliens are cheapskates and use flimsy VW-size balloon-like craft to drift around the planet. Until this week, it was a good idea...inexpensive and unnoticed by the military.

That would be my take away. I don’t know if we are just being weak and timid and avoiding confrontational rhetoric, although we are shooting them down, so it doesn’t seem too timid, or there is some diplomacy going on, and the Chinese regret having launched more balloons and are asking for it to be down played.
